So I’ve being sober 15 days now but over the 2 weeks I’ve had 2 major migraines do you think this may be linked to be quiting?
I’ve experienced migraines like this before but never this soon after each other and never this intense they’ve each lasted 2 days with another day or 2 before or after with a general headache?
Duno if it’s my change In diet or my body going through some sort of withdrawal?
I used to get really bad headaches.
Didn’t know if it was too much coffee, not enough water, both or just part of what actually happens.
Keep hydrating and I found iboproven worked but obviously I don’t know if you would be happy with this.
This seems to be common for the first little while, I had an almost continual headache for the first three weeks/month with a few migraines in there as well. Drink lots, get lots of rest and it will pass, I barely ever get headaches now and only one migraine in over a year
Oh yeah, sounds normal to me. Migraines are triggered by changes in chemicals and hormones in our bodies. There is certainly a lot of that going on. Since getting sober I now get weird, non full blown migraines right before my period. I didn’t get them when I was drinking and on benzos. I only had full blown migraines in clusters of 2 or 3 every few years.
This process affects our hormones more than a lot of women realize. And for us, this means migraines if we are prone to them.
Thanks everyone puts my mind at rest to know I’m not the only one ha! No mention these side effects of quitting eh ha! I’ll push on hopefully itl pass soon
I think I made this same post a few weeks back. I had a headache everyday for the first month. I’m almost at 2 months now and still have them off and on. I remember having headaches a lot when I was a teenager but rarely got them during my years of drinking, not even from a hangover. So I just figure it’s the brain trying to understand what’s happening without drugs/alcohol and hopefully fixing itself by evening out the chemical imbalances.
Headaches that are concerning are if you have never really had them before and this one is the worst ever. The other is if you have a history of them and now they are presenting differently. Either of those require eval and likely imaging. I rarely chime in as I’m here for support too (the diseasea does not discriminate). All previous posts on hydration, eating well, dosing appropriate of Ibuprofen and time are great. Feel better and hang in there!
Naproxen sodium or potassium (Aleve) works for me. I am deadly allergic to paracetamol or mostly known as Tylenol in the US, it could kill me within minutes of ingestion. Plus, it is pretty harsh on your system. Efervesant aspirin works well. Take two of whatever you are able ro take. The doses are kept low to keep possible side effects.
Your body is probably dehydrated and more so while detoxing. Make sure to hydrate frequently and to eat. Its better mentally and physically to eat and sleep at the same time everyday as a routine… Take some Excedrin get into healthy habits and things should get better soon. Goodluck on your new journey just stay strong!
