Women and drinking

Hey all! I came across this article today and I thought I would share. She has a lot of valid points and I totally understand her anger. Although, I do believe that some of it is misplaced. She comes off as very judgemental of other women and that doesn’t jive with me. We should be working to educate and uplift other women not drag each other down. Sitting in judgement detracts from the root of the problem. Otherwise, I really enjoyed reading this and I hope you do too.

Ouch. Yes, alcohol is everywhere and lots of women drink too much. But the world is also filled with a lot of peaceful, simple moments if you slow down a little. Her anxiety was palpable.

I enjoyed the article. I find her satirical response to being a woman in a “mans” world funny lol. Being on the other end of the pool where you can appreciate where you started (the shallow end with pomegranate mimosas), to enjoying life’s disappointments with a clear head. I mean life is both filled with beautiful moments and some difficult struggles. Choosing to not inebriate oneself to deal with both the beauty and dismay is a brave act. Thanks for sharing.

I guess I relate because I have my own anger issues. It’s generally not the side I choose to show the world though. I believe its possible to be angry about the situation whilst not blaming those who partake. It’s about as effective as pouring gas on a fire and then getting mad when it engulfs your house. Don’t focus on the side effects (how other people live) - focus on the cause (the media, ignorance, intolerance, inequality). We have to work individually to be thoughtful, progressive human beings. The more people we can help along the way the better. Getting mad at how other women react to the pressure of being a woman is counterproductive.

Also, its a little ridiculous to judge people for shit that you used to do. If anything you’d think she would be empatheic.

That said, I think she’s funny and has a lot of good points.
