I drank for 25 years. After the first 3 years I realized I had a problem. The penny that dropped for me…putting a loaded gun in my mouth. I thought that was the only solution. If you know moderation doesn’t work. Then absolutely stop, get help, find a program, change the people, places and things that draw you to drinking.

I knew I had to log in today for a reason, I was thinking about @aircircle today too actually. Thanks for thinking of us Maniacs Dan! Life sure is different on this side of sober but I am SO loving it! I’m losing my fears and REALLY living life. Even when it’s not easy, it’s still a gazillion times better than the old. 
I’ll post an update soon!

Took me 21 years, and almost losing everything good in my life. I have been getting better at getting better for 1317 days.
And guess what? I can go out on the town for a night, or go to a winery with friends, or a back yard barbecue where there’s beer. I won’t drink, because I don’t drink. I became a non-drinker.
But you gotta get your reps in, first. You have to learn to say “no” to the drink that matters…the first drink. Crawl, walk, run. This is the way of things.

I have not been here as long as most, but I have watched some come and go. She will be one of those I remember and think of from time to time. I appreciated her presence here. All the best to her on her journey.

I realized yesterday I hadn’t seen @Fnkychic check in for awhile, had a weird dream last night where I was riding my bike through a garden where she was weaving baskets. I loved everything she contributed around here and I hope she is doing okay.

@Sunflower1 @anon9289869 @M-be-free49 I am with you all on this. I really wanted to buy a basket from her, continue sharing gardening photos and tips, and hear about how she was doing the hard work of self care. I hope she is doing okay.
P.S. maybe I need to take her cue and learn to weave baskets myself!
