Yovember! Yoga for November

Forgot to post but did yoga for chronic pain yesterday and did the two short ones this morning so I am up to date :white_check_mark:

Going away this weekend but staying at my parents so should be able to keep some yoga going. Tbh will probably need it there more than at home :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m having a break today. I’ve been working hard on my leg/hip mobility this past few days and I need to rest. And I’ve been feeling a bit down in the dumps so I might just meditate.

I’m getting some great results currently in both strength and flexibility, the style of teaching in the current videos is very different, higher energy for sure, but shorter. I like it. And the guy is good with words, inspiring. But not today

Hope your meditation helped clear things a bit! :hugs:

Glad to hear you’ve found a yoga thing that fits for you.

Did a beginners morning yoga practice with my mum this morning. She has arthritis which she’s never had any treatment for so it was nice to be able to help her with some adjustments to get a bit more out of it. Otherwise she just tries to power through with the discomfort. I guess when you are used to being uncomfortable you just put up with it.

Had a proper break over the weekend, no yoga for a couple of days and I appreciated the rest. My hips and thighs especially thanked me for it. Back in today, nice vinyasa class.

Really glad I started with the YWA videos as the FWFG philosophy is very much ingrained in my approach. I don’t feel any pressure to push myself too hard, I use a range of sources so can pick and choose as I please.

That’s so nice, that’s what I love about YWA! Definitely good to try different things and take the best bits from each of them

Had a couple days off yoga as being away I was staying up and waking up late then getting straight on with the day. In my own slow way

Today I did 10 mins or so self guided yoga after a bath, the mood just took me. Got my dance class this evening and always incorporate a few yoga bits into the warm up and cool down anyway.

Plan is to try and get up at a normal time tomorrow and get some practice in before work.

Good practice this morning. I went back and did one of the mens classes as I had been doing other things for a few days. Mostly back and shoulders. The theme was ‘how can I bring kindness into my life?’. The teacher gave me a laugh when he said ‘it’s no good me teaching you how to do handstands in the middle of the room if you’re still an a**hole’

And a new colleague has joined my team at work who also teaches yoga classes. We have already had some good conversations about it which is great. I encouraged her to do a class for the team on Thursday which everyone seemed to enjoy. They want to do it weekly now :+1:

Back. Feels so good. Missed it much for both my body and soul, equally.

Did my first yoga practice for two weeks this morning! Went to my friend’s class and it was lovely. My issue has been getting up on time. Still aiming for some kind of regular practice whenever I can get my shit together in the mornings

It’s been a difficult week mentally and physically for me. My lower back has been really painful recently, the worst it’s been in ages. I rested for 2 days, no yoga at all, and it improved. Then did an hour class without digging into any poses, really light, and then rested yesterday. I plan to do the same class later today.

I think I was putting way too much strain on my lower back, to the point it was swelling and putting pressure on a nerve. From all the straight leg seats I was doing probably. That’s what it felt like anyway. A valuable lesson learnt.

:pray:t2:

Yoga in December? Anyone? My next goal is to get back on my morning routine yoga, meditation but am very stressed atm to get to work early. There is absolutely no need to be there at 6 am. I am still trying to understand where the root of this stress is.

I am really struggling to get up in the mornings at the minute and my mood has taken a steep downturn so I am scaling my ambitions back to just getting through my 16 hours of work for the week and meeting the family and social obligations I have committed to! Hoping this passes before too long though and can get back to at least attempting an irregular yoga practice

Enjoyed this earlier, felt really good and did a 20 minute nidra afterwards.

Wow 40 minute vinyasa sequence bet that got the blood pumping!

Went to my friend’s yoga class yesterday and it was nice to be back there. I’m still not managing to get up before 8am (when I am supposed to start work!) most days :triumph:

I suppose if I want to get some kind of regular yoga practice I can’t depend on it always being morning yoga. Maybe just doing it randomly through the day is the answer… Guess it doesn’t hurt to try a different way.

Also saw this which I am definitely signing up to. New thread to follow soon ish, unless anyone else sets one up before I get to it!

Ha, certainly did!! My practice has been a bit broken this past couple of weeks. My lower back has been giving me grief so I eventually saw sense and took a break for a few days. I feel much better for it. I’m gradually putting together my own 30 minute practice and I’ve taken parts of that video for it. I want a nice solid practice that suits my body that doesn’t require a video. Just as another option. My own flow. I’m getting there and it’s been an enjoyable process.

It can be difficult to find a consistant routine with anything, let alone exercise, especially when other changes are happening. Trying to get into a new work routine is the sort of thing that would take all my focus also. Personally I benefit from not having a rigid time I do it. I mostly hit the mat straight after work as a way of separating out my work and home life. Difficult considering they are now both in my house now. The benefit is that I can just as easily get my yoga in at lunch time, morning, whenever. I’ve even caught myself doing it just before bed. FWFG right
