Today is the first ‘test’ as in the first time I’ve actually craved a drink. What do you do to get past this when it hits?

Just try and keep busy with something that’ll take your mind off of it. The old idle hands / idle mind adage is real, at least for me during the first few weeks. It usually came around the same day, too but after 3-4 weeks it subsided. My goal through all of it has been the same: just get to bed sober tonight. Every time I remind myself of that, it helps.

Congrats on the 18 days! I could always stop, I just couldn’t stay stopped. In early sobriety, what helped with the physical cravings were sugars, chocolate, cookies.
I ended up in AA, your journey may be different, and that’s okay too!
I just suggest if you fail or fall, just keep trying! Try something different.
