That’s just beautiful.

I love walking/hiking. It seems to be the only way I can calm my overactive mind for a while. Went on a hike with a friend yesterday, it was one of the last sunny days :sunny:

So are we organising this for 2021 guys?

Think some from other countries should come across too…

I’m in, depending on dates, I’m doing the national 3 peaks in 24hrs next year too so as long as it doesn’t clash with that or the 3 breaks I’ve already booked I’m game :+1:

I was going to spend the summer doing my first real thru-hike. Oregon Coast Trail was one of my options. Looks like I’ll have to put it off until next year. :disappointed:

I’m up for it although I am in total one day at a time mode at the moment so the idea of planning for next year is a bit of a reach :upside_down_face:

But if people need to book transport more time is obvs better. May seems like a good time for a good chance of good walking weather?

I’ll be up for it, again, not too sure what’s happening with life at the moment but if we can pin a weekend down then let’s go for it :slightly_smiling_face:

Finances, mostly. But a lot of national parks are discouraging out of state travelers because of covid-19.

No, cool. I can understand the finances bit. Totally.
Discouraging isn’t saying no though. I thought the parks over there were massive.
Big enough to get lost in.
Cool for next year though.

Oooouuu just saw this thread and gets me so excited for what’s to come. I fell off the wagon pretty hard and deep after around 19 months. Almost in my double digits clean now and feeling all kinds of blessed to live in Colorado, home to some of the most beautiful rocky mountains! Absolutely stoked to be all up in 'em come saturday!!! RMNP, nearly any trail, always recommended. Also, AllTrails app can be pretty useful at times, just a heads up!
Much love all!:heart::v:

I’m all for it. Did my first hiking for months in the last 2 days in the Eifel in Germany. It went pretty well.

12 miles in today, the second time we’ve done this route covering our local ‘three peaks’ (500ft, 450ft and 550ft high, not sure how much of that we actually walked up/ down). It was raining last time so didn’t stop for pics! Perfect walking weather today. Stopped at a pub for some food on our way back too, bonus

Almost 20 days for me today! Yesterday went on a gorgeous solo hike. Tested my mental and physical strength for sure! Nearly 4,000ft. elevation gain. Kept telling myself, “Marathon, not a sprint. Nothing worth it comes easy!”. Life is good atm and sure is a beautiful one. Happy hiking friends, good vibes your way always!

This weekend I spent qualifying to be allowed to partake in what are called Test Marches.
This involves getting up and down mountains with a loaded rucksack, timed!
We were in the black mountains in Wales today doing my first test march after passing the qualifying course on Fri/Sat.
16 miles in 6.5 hours over beautiful countryside and rugged terrain.
Loved it, bring on the next one!

I did a 14er a few weeks ago and it was HARD!!! I was hungover and I’m sure that didn’t help, but it made me realize I need to get in better shape for next summers hiking! So here we go!

Any other Scottish hikers in this thread?

Not seen @iwebt for a wee while but that’s her neck of the woods

Hiya! I stay in Argyll and hike as often as I can around the Highlands!

That’s the way!
Six months sober, I went up a mountain and realised I wasn’t as fit as I should be!
We don’t need to be super athletic, but it would be nice to be able to chat on the way up a hill without panting!
