So I’m on day 3 and I don’t think I’m having any physical withdrawals. Can someone share their experiences within the first week of stopping drinking?
Hi, in my case it took about 4-5 days; and I used some benzos (in very low dosage) in first two days. Finally on day 5 I did not feel withdrawals anymore (especially tremour).
It is very individual. I also know persons who need up to 10 days and have to take benzos in higher benzos to reduce withdrawals.
I guess it is fine if you are on day 3 without any withdrawals. The only thing medicins usually worry about is the possibility of epileptics. These can occur during the first 7-8 days, but are not too often. Medicins of course want to be safe and give benzos and anti-epileptic substances.
What are tremors like? Do your muscles actually twitch?
not all our several muscles twitch, it is rather a drizzeld trembling of hands, fingers, sometimes the lips our the whole head
consequently you get problems to drink your coffee our eat a soup
My withdrawls consisted of nervousness, anxiety, night sweats and nightmares…never really got the shakes except mornings after a hard nights drinking.
Thanks for sharing. I have been on a few 3 to 4 days where I drink at night after like 9pm then passout.
Normally that’s after a bottle of wine and a couple beers. Going to do a 30 to 45 break…but I sure do think about it a lot now…
As I understand it, alcohol withdrawals and opiate withdrawals are quite different
Yeah I would guess so…
Why does this sober clock move so dang slow…hehe
It really depends on how much you were drinking and how long for. Withdrawals can be slightly shaky hands, sweating and anxiety to full on body tremors, sweating, insomnia, hallucinations, confusion knows as delirium tremons. If you were physically dependent on alcohol you should seek medical advice as withdrawal can be dangerous. I’v had 3 medical impatient detoxes with the worst kind of withdrawal, nearly fitting, but that was because I was drinking a litre of vodka a day for a long period of time. If you’re on day 3 and you aren’t feeling too bad then you’re doing ok. My advice would be to go to alcoholics anonymous, learn about alcoholism and how to stay sober. I’m 10 months sober now after rehab and going to aa. Keep going you’re doing great but you don’t have to do it on your own.
Really bad shakes, headaches, constant vomiting/nausea and 1 seizure withdrawing from alcohol. Lasted about 6 days. Best of luck! You can do it!
Those are my exact withdrawal symptoms as well. I already know l’ll have some crazy dreams tonight, if I can fall asleep and quit feeling so nervous. I also know tomorrow I’ll feel a bit better but my face will be swollen. Day 2 is ALWAYS a swollen face. Day 3 is my good day, usually no craving for alcohol. Day 4 & 5 are the days when I feel my best…and start craving a drink again - just because I feel so good. Then it repeats.
Hot & cold sweats and unable to sleep &Drunk deams;I felt strange being sober. I will always remember what a fellow alcoholic whos been sober for 30 year’s said to me in my 1st week ‘take it a day at a time’ I always try & have that mindset. I try not to think about my best mates wedding & his stag party next year that kind of thing,I’ll face that when the day comes! All the best mate & well done on 3 days sober
Good tips for a girl wrapping up day one and already thinking I could probably have “just one” tomorrow…
For the July 4th drunks looking for help.
