Another good trip! It was an exhilerating ocean today. A little rough settling down from the last nights storm. Big swell. This mornings sunrise was incredible. I wish i could have filmed it.

I have tomorrow off. Saturday night. I have zero desire to drink. Im going to relax.

Almost four weeks into crab season. I feel really good.

Last season we had a expensive, special order part break about four weeks into crab season. It gave me a four days onshore. Two days waiting for the part and two days to fix it.

As soon as we landed the boat and i was released. I went over to another boat and started drinking beer.

I had been looking forward to it for three weeks. Working 60 grinds is hard on you mentally. I had a huge case of the fuck its! Fuck sobriety, fuck AA, fuck everything!

I got a hotel next door to my favorite bar. Like always, it started out fun. 1st night went well. I was exhausted so I didnt stay out all night. The next day, while i was drunk, so I decided to buy a little meth. I saved it for the boat for those sixty hour grinds.

Nothing bad happened those four nights onshore. Once again I felt I could drink like a gentleman.

I avoided breathing around my boss for the first day back on the boat. I just stayed on the back deck working. Hes very anti alcohol.

I felt like shit. It sucked! I did a little meth and felt better. We did a 30 hour grind. We got though all 500 pots, and my boss decided to anchor up and get some sleep.

I was wired, so i tossed and turned. I didnt get any sleep, so i had to start off our next grind with more meth.

I was paranoid. While your crabbing you have to be in tune with the noises the boat, hydraulics and gear makes.

Meth did not enhance my abilities to do my job. It made me jumpy, and off rhythm. When i was just exhausted, was safer.

We did a 40 hour grind. That put me at 78 hours, no sleep. I did get a little sleep that night not much.

The numbers of crab in our gear slowed down. We caught them already. When that happens you let your gear soak for a few days. No more 60 hour grinds. I bought the meth to help, but it wasnt necessary because we stopped working insane hours.

So now i was a tweaker on a boat. Working with assholes, paranoid.

That was torture. I swore off meth. I promised myself i would never do it again, but I was under the illusion i had my drinking under control again.

Im so grateful that i remember how miserable I was and that im not this year!

81 days since my final relapse! :muscle:
