Popped in my shuffle, probably one of the hugest influences for me picking up guitar it was heavier than most Van Halen stuff released in that era, plus itâs one of my favorite movies. And Sammy Hagar introduced me to my love for tequila with Cabo Wabo
Which leads me to the great question Hagar or Roth?
Alright so this is not a discussion I like to have cause then I always feel like Iâm betraying a side pros and cons to both.
David, outstanding front man, one of the most memorable icons of rock music, Iâve heard his live performances are not very good and thatâs coming from people who had seen them in the 70s, he was never that great but looked great and played the part to a T.
Sammy, one of the best rock vocalists of that era, outstanding showmanship, great guitarist, great song writer, and honestly just a good dude that was way too nice to the toxic Van Halen brothers, love them to death but both Alex and Eddie were full blown alcoholics the entire career.
Love em both man can never choose because my favorite albums are with Roth, my favorite singles are with Hagar.
Iâm in the same boat man,
Roth was a showman but that brown sound could never be replicated, they were raw, on fire and had attitude
With Hagar itâs like they matured melodically
1984 and Van Halen 1 are both phenomenal albums, Diver Down was alright
But then you got Hagar coming in you get Dreams, Why Canât this be love, Right Now, and of course Humans being,
This had been a long debate between me and a former friend one night, we sat up all night debating who was better, she was a Roth fan, and every time I think Van Halen it reminds ol me of that night good times
I saw that comment today and I just saw the video you referenced haha great taste
Pure example like man I will never like Roths voice as much but anyone who hates on Roth canât deny this dude was perfect for Van Halen sick album Unchained man
Very fun
Some Classic Crue⊠Too Fast For Love is by far my favorite album, itâs raw with attitude and you can tell it was budget strict in production
On top of that Mick Mars is probably one of the most underrated guitar players of the 80s
Lemmy is a legend in a league of his own
