His voice is very soothing.
About halfway through this one.
@Leveller I love Jurassic Park and The Lost World. I read Jurassic Park so many times back in the day that the paperback version I had quite literally began falling apart. Definitely worth the read (or listen). Though I like most of Crichton’s books, so maybe I’m biased??
Fun fact: I’ve even a Kindle, but I like it to feel and smell real books again. I also miss the covers.
I always have an ebook with me on my phone through the Libby app. The app partners with my library so I can rent ebooks and audio books for free. The Neil Gaiman is my first audio book I’ve ever listened to and I like it so far. I am also always reading a physical book which right now is The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr. My home shelves are full of things to be read.
I have a kobo but the last year I’ve been buying books again. Not that one is more preferred, they are just different.
I also use Libby for books, audiobooks, and magazines! It’s such a great app. I LOVE the library anyhow but I hated their app. Now they switched to Libby I’m in heaven.
A lil story- I was a massive book hoarder for a long time. We move every few years (as apartment dwellers in the US cause they rack your rent up a bit every year till you can’t afford to stay. So you move to another place where they do the same thing) when I moved in with my now husband his brother kept screeching “TOO MANY BOOKS!!!” Cause I had like 40 boxes of them to carry up 3 flights of stairs after carrying them down 5 flights at my old place.
So I seriously assessed my books and realized I had 2 FULL BOOKCASES that were either under a 3 star rating for me or DNFs for one reason or another. I had ANOTHER full bookcase of TBRs that I was never going to get around to if I kept this up. So I made up a rule that I have to read what I have before I borrow or buy anymore. Anything I won’t be for sure reading more than once gets donated (I’m a big re-reader. I definitely have comfort books) it took me years to read the books I already bought and they automatically went to donate or the re-read shelf.
Now I have 2 boxes of well loved books and I’m
Happier for it. It really kicked off a bit of a minimalism journey for me. Most everything I read I check out at the library and if it’s something I LOVED and will absolutely read again I splurge and get a nice hardcover copy of it for the shelf.
I don’t know if anyone else does something similar. I don’t know if I’d have ever done it without my now brother in law griping at me every time we moved but I’m glad he wore me down honestly
I love Libby too. It’s so convenient to always have a book on you.
Hi. I just got to a part in a book I was reading that I shared above, where there is graphic description of drug use. I can’t take out that single book from the post so I added a trigger warning at the top of the post and to the specific book.
I’m wondering if I should take down the entire post though. Just in case. Thoughts? Thanks y’all!
Not on my account @Imcrafty I think every single book ive read could be considered a trigger.
Just finished listening to the stand again, forgot how good it is and was still fighting back tears at the end.
Currently listening to the witchcraft of salem village- Shirley Jackson .
On kindle at the moment im reading the breakers series by edward d robertson.
And my current physical book is a sliver of darkness by CJ Tudor.
Plenty there to keep me busy. I can listen and read a book several times if i like it. For me its no different to listening to your favourite song over and over.
Im reading All That Glitters by VC Andrews. Oldie but a goodie!!
Not on my account either (speaking as a member). Tho it is nice to give a TW (speaking as a mod).
@SassyRocks @Leveller ok thank you for weighing in. I didn’t think much of it for a chapter or two cause that not my vice but then I started to panic when I realized it might be someone else’s. I’ve added the warnings and I’ll call that good for now.
Its perfect weather for reading here in the UK today. I had to get my little plant in as it was almost dead a few months ago but is thriving now.
Your plant DOES look happy!

A helpful book about co-dependancy. Thank you @Dazercat to bring up the co-dependant thing
Current read is a Kristin Hannah book titled The Four Winds. Just love her writing style!
Stranger than Fiction by Chuck Palahniuk
Got it signed by him personally, met him in person, and yeah, finally reading it, hoping that maybe it will make me feel like I am not alone.
It supposedly gets really messed up and punches the reader directly in the feels and heart
I’m not at that point yet, but his life has been tragic at times.
I love his style of writing. Reminds me of Hunter S Thompson
