An alcoholic ultrarunner’s story from bottom to zen. Athlete or not, this guy is a guru in mindfulness, sobriety, and health on mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional levels.
I’ve read 15 books since quarantine and am currently on Stranger in a Strange Land and am loving it so far. The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain remains my favorite during this pandemic
Are your relatives from the US?
I like Lea
So I finished The Gulag Archipelago. Sometimes, not often, you read something and it changes you. Changes how you view the world forever. In someways it becomes part of you and you carry the weight of it around for the rest of your days. As if the lens through which you view the world has permanently been altered. That’s what The Gulag Archipelago is to me. Utterly devastating and almost impossible to comprehend, but vital and urgent in every sense.
Moving on to this now. As you can probably tell I do enjoy a nice cheerful read
Just finished these books, enjoyed them all, but Anne Tyler’s, Alternate Side, was my favorite…
Just finished “The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Hate Positive Thinking”, by Oliver Burkman.
About to start “The Upward Spiral”.
You ever flip open a book to a random spot and see something that totally hits home?
Just got “Upward Spiral” from the library. First thing I saw was a quote from Michel de Montaigne: “My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened”.
Word!
Currently reading The Alchemist. Its amazing. So much of it relates to recovery. The main character is taught about mindfulness and staying in the present, how to relieve yourself of fear. Its a great book and I find myself frequently putting it down to copy quotes from it into my quote journal. I highly recommend it.
I’ve been reading the new living testament from start to finish… I’m up to Deuteronomy… might aswell educate myself as best as I can on the things I’ve been critical about in the past…
Running with Scissors is one of my favorite books. He sure can write!!
Hmmm…that looks interesting!
I love it so far. Beautifully written.
I will take a look, thanks! And I just noticed Kermit was your avatar! Love Kermie!
I always loved the Dic Van Dyke Show. And Mary Tyler Moore was one of my first crushes .
When I was little.
I’m not proud. I am who I am.
Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Loved that show too.
Great show indeed! What a cast!!
Ah the good old days. You got me thinking and it really was a hell of a cast wasn’t it. I mean everyone was great and did other stuff. I never thought much of Cloris Leachman. Boy was I wrong. I forgot all the great stuff she did like Young Frankenstein and Malcom in the Middle and so many more.
