I’ve started this one now.
Already I’m hooked and I think I’m going to love it!
Ahh ! I’m excited to hear what you think X
So far, it feels like it has more depth than Remarkably Bright Creatures (which I did think was lovely). It’s a good one so far.
What you reading Lou?
Yes I know what you’re saying. I liked remarkably bright creatures, although there was an element of having to suspend belief (for me). Enjoyable, but I didn’t really take anything away from it, if that makes sense?
I’m still reading All The Light We Cannot See as The Hate U Give arrived from the library and that one was time constrained so it got promoted up the reading list . I really enjoyed it. I enjoy YA books in general actually.
I’ve also just listened to Dave Grohl’s book on Spotify. I’m huge Foos fan and love Dave - such a humble, nice guy. I genuinely wish he was my mate
So back to All The Light now X
Yes yes yes. Same. It was beautiful and lovely, but too light. The trauma packed into it was almost swept over. I think it relied on some metaphor and allegory with the octopus and captivity and life, but I needed the meat and bones a bit more. It swept over a lot to remain light-hearted.
Enjoy All the Light. I just got his other book Cuckoo… Something. Really enjoyed his writing and imagery. I keep meaning to watch The Hate You give on iPlayer as well.
You’ve hit the nail on the head for me. It covered some incredibly emotional themes, but I just didn’t feel it
I’m enjoying All The Light so far. It’s one of those books where I find myself lost in the imagery I’ll be sure to check out his other book too X
I love Yung Pueblo books. I just finished Lighter and Clarity and Connections. I am currently reading the way forward.
Loved it… a real breath of fresh air.
I’m reading The Teacher by Freida McFadden, good so far. Also The Fraud by Zadie Smith. Enjoying both immensely.
Absolute loving it so far.
I love Zadie Smith! Let me know what you think when you finish? That is one I haven’t read.
I’m reading Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and I’m loving it!
For the German speaking:
It’s about codependency in an alcoholic relationship.
What I found interesting is that both sides, the drinking person and the not-drinking spouse are described.
For me it was hard stuff but absolutely worth reading.
Is it fiction or non fiction? Is it more like a documentary style or a novel?
I should read more German books, I feel I’m losing the language.
