Feeling Good by Dr. David Burns
I also enjoyed that one a lot! His books are goood!!!
Oooh I’ve heard good things about this. I’ll add it to the TBR list xx
I do not like starting a new book before completing my current book. However, en route to the hairdressers I realised I’d left my book behind and the thought of sitting without something decent to read filled me with more anxiety than having two books on the go at once
So this is an emergency purchase, largely to fill the time but I am unashamed to say that I’m seduced by an interesting cover, especially as it appears to bring two of my loves together - reading and hiking X
I just finished this one
I give it 2 out of 5 starfish
I have to say, I’ve never read a book that is more mediocre cookie cutter than this one! BUT (big but) I did finish it. I don’t finish books anymore that are truly crap.
It is set after the global covid pandemic and covid is repeatedly referenced throughout. It’s about another (maybe) pandemic from a lab enhanced and weaponised meningitis strain that was intentionally set free by a rogue agent/former lab worker. So yeah, the whole storyline was just heavily riding on all those conspiracy theories and not very original. But the three main characters were really likable and relatable. This book will find its way to a charity shop very soon.
I’ve recently got back into reading.
Right now I’m almost halfway through this Wellness by Nathan Hill | Goodreads
I’ve added a couple of books to my list from this thread. Looking forward to adding more
I ADORED Wellness! It was so incredibly well written!!
I’m reading Wellness right now too!
I’m just about halfway through now. It’s a hard one to put down!
Agree, very well written! Keen on reading The Nix afterwards. Have you read it?
I love a long atmospheric novel. You get caught up in the characters.
Finished reading a couple of James Patterson books which I loved. The chapters where short which I liked and stories were very enthralling.
About to start this book.
Yes, I had to read it after! It was good, not as compelling as Wellness, but I was glad I read it.
I love fleshed out characters, even as I may not necessarily like the character.
My favourite crime author. I love Jo Nesbo
Currently reading Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. Pretty good so far. Time Travel novel. Haven’t picked it apart yet, so that’s a pretty good in my books.
Did you know Zheng Yi Sao (1775-1844), a Chinese woman, at her peak commanded the largest confederation of pirate ships in the world: 400 ships and over 40,000 pirates, in the South China Sea (near Hong Kong, where she fought some famous battles). She is widely considered one of the most significant pirates in history.
She was a significant player in piracy between 1801-1810 - she faced the British (the East India Company), the Portuguese, and the Chinese (Qing dynasty) - and after her retirement in 1810, she raised her young children to adulthood and had a successful and peaceful career managing a gambling house.
