Any horror movie fans?

Idk if I ever mentioned The Platform before  but itā€™s one I never forgot about. I had no idea there even was a 2nd one, but Iā€™m glad there is, Iā€™m watching it right now. A prequel to the first. Same gruesome brutality, if not more, and much more character development. Highly recommend :+1::+1:

MAN absolutely!
I prefer the 1990 remake to the original. Horror blasphemy, but I donā€™t care.
In my top 10 as well, easy.

Some of my personal favorites that Iā€™ll be getting to this October ā€“

Candyman (1992)
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
It Follows
The Shining
Dawn of the Dead (1978) and probably (2004)
Day of the Dead (1985)
House of 1,000 Corpses // Devilā€™s Rejects
Halloween, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Trick r Treat

And whatever is on Svengoolie every saturday night.

Edit to add the opening titles of Halloween 4.
It captures the essence of the season perfectly, in my opinion.

@Tragicfarinelli Now that Iā€™ve finished it, I can say that I liked how it ended :ok_hand: Hope you enjoy

@TMAC Ahā€¦Candyman. That movie messed me tf up when I was a kid. I was scared to watch it again for a looong time. I also love the 2004 Dawn of the Dead. Might have to dust off my DVD :upside_down_face:

Well, my understanding is that they were film students at the time, so maybe not so surprising, but what a great effective film it is. :+1:

Iā€™ve been diving into quite a few found-footage films recently, because, when they work, I find they can be the some of the most genuinely frightening films. Iā€™ve found very few to compare with Blair Witch Project or the first couple of Paranormal Activity films though. Hell House LLC was pretty good (although Iā€™ve heard the sequels are dire), and Skinamarink got to me! (Although many people say itā€™s not really even a film!)

I also have The Outwaters in my blu ray pileā€“looking forward to that.

Have heard so much great stuff about this film but I know absolutely nothing about itā€“except that I canā€™t wait to see it!

What a great photo. I only ever saw the very first Candyman film and I liked it well enough, but never felt the urge to watch any of the sequels.

Personal stuffā€¦

I have not been doing great on the sobriety front recentlyā€“thatā€™s one reason I havenā€™t really been posting here much. A bit ashamed of myself, I guess. I havenā€™t quite regressed to my worst boozing patternsā€“not nearly, but I have been drinking too much for sure.

I just started taking a Kudzu supplement after reading that it is meant to help with alcohol cravings and reduce the desire to drink to excess. I didnā€™t expect muchā€“if anythingā€“and it has only been less than a week since I started taking it, but I have to say, it actually seems surprisingly effective.

On another positive note I managed to patch things up with my wife after a very prolonged bad patch earlier in the year (which I moaned about here), so that is good. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, it actually looked like it was over for us for moment. Glad it wasnā€™t.

Oh i want to see this movie, i liked her previous movie ā€œRevengeā€ !

I went to see Smile 2. Itā€™s too long, but itā€™s pretty good, cosy atmosphere

I watched two films in the theater this week The Reflecting Skinā€“ a very strange, almost David Lynch-esque rural, psychological horror film from 1990, which was weird and unsettling, but pretty good. (Damn, that was a lot of adjectives in one sentence!)

And Imaginaryā€“the new (here) Blumhouse movie, which I knew was going to be crapā€“and it was, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it! I went in hoping for the same tranquilizing ā€œcozy atmosphereā€ that I got from Night Swim and I wasnā€™t disappointed. It almost put me into a trance.

Itā€™s weird, but I think bad Blumhouse movies have become my new comfort foodā€“my ā€œblankie.ā€ :baby:

In a way Iā€™m glad they just seem to keep making 'em!

Just saw it in Paris, and aw, it hurts !
There are literally plenty of (obvious) references, it may irritate some, but overall, I loved it. Cool roller coaster, with a lot of over the top moments, grand guignol and fun. Itā€™s also really sexy, violent, and visceral. Et oui cā€™est franƧais :joy:
