Any deer hunters? Michigan preferably
You can find other hunters on this thread below…tho you may have already found it.
Lots of anglers around too. I am definitely a wildlife lover. Grew up in New England and am now in western NC. Have a lot of deer here, as we live in a no hunting community, that borders a beautiful gamelands! A win win for all. I have lots of funny pictures of deer on our game cam, they like the night light on it. We also have black bears here, tho we see them far less often. And all the other usual suspects…raccoons, possums, turkeys, bobcats, absolutely gorgeous foxes. It is a nice area for wildlife. We also have hellbenders in these parts…which are incredibly cool and elusive!!
I was a hunter and a fisherman until my twenties when I just couldn’t shoot any living being anymore or to fish. I grew up in the woods, lakes and rivers with my dad and uncles and they thought me how to survive in the wild which I’m always grateful. Nature is my place to be, in there I feel alive and whole.
I could never kill a living thing.
In Scotland they do cull the deer because they are a bit out of control and eat everything, preventing new trees from growing and all associated habitats and wildlife, so I do understand why it is done. They do eat the meat as well, so nothing is wasted.
I hear ya. I had to quit hunting and fishing when I was in my early twenties because it just felt so wrong. Nowadays I’m a vegan, because I don’t wanna be part of slaughtering and exploitation, I don’t wanna be part of killing animals.
I live in the U.P. I don’t hunt but am grateful to those that do to keep the population in check. I really dislike deer running in front of me when I’m driving at 65 mph.
I’m also a fan of wolves being reintroduced to keep our deer/moose population in check. I’ve never almost hit a wolf.
I used to deer hunt, but as many go, don’t have it in me any more to kill those beautiful souls… that said I do a little bit of game bird hunting still when I get to my cabin in fall. We have them instead of turkey for the holiday.
Still trout fish when I am also at cabin, but that is less and less. Do love smoking them as a healthy snack. Again, I appreciate having game meat as I know where it comes from and it’s definitely a healthy alternative to store bought, force fed, and steroid injected meat that is what we are given for options these days…
I don’t judge anyone that does hunt, anyone that chooses to eat store bought nor anyone that chooses to forgo meat all together. Personal choice and I respect that for all people.
To each their own, live and let live I say.
