Would love a support person to chat with when I feel like I’m going down the rabbit hole.
I’m not in Australia myself - but I’ve been there and I know what it’s like to feel alone in that mad carousel of thoughts. You’re not alone. Many people here have been in exactly your shoes.
One of the reasons recovery programs like AA or SMART Recovery (or the many others) exist is that we need to connect. We need that human connection. We can’t do it alone. No one can do life alone, whether they’re an addict or not - we all need people on the journey with us.
When we’re in addiction, we drink ourselves into disconnection. And it feels so empty eventually. Addiction recovery programs give us that space to connect and be with other people - and that helps us heal
There is no shame in needing help. There is healing and self-respect in that - and that is something everybody deserves (including you).
AA is active in Australia:
There’s lots of online meetings worldwide, you can usually find one any time of day:

Take care and remember: you’re not alone. There is a way for you to live free. You just have to search for it.
