I just had a beautiful interaction with another human… The crew were on my window causing sunset mayhem, and a lady rode past on her push bike and stopped and shreaked in excitement and said to me “oh my gosh I live two blocks up the road and I feed them at my apartment balcony as well! Its the same group of cockatoos!”… Then we proceeded to talk for about twenty minutes and got along like a house on fire bonding over our shared bird custody of the crew lmao
I gave her hints and tips and she gave me hers
She does the same thing as me, she takes nuts In her pockets when she leaves the house just incase the crew are flying about the neighborhood somewhere
It was such a nice interaction. They don’t happen very often…

I wonder if cockatoos are basically flying cats, they go around the neighborhood and at several houses and beg “I’m starving! No-one feeds me!” and actually get fed in loads of places.

I’m sorry but no matter how many pictures you post, I still thinks it’s AMAZING how unafraid and friendly they all seem toward you (food or not… I feed some wild birds at my house and they do not allow me to get that close)…your vibe must be awesomeness and the birds just know it girl!

I decided to try the recommended sunflower seeds that the other whisper mentioned that she feeds them…
Its pouring rain now so the crew are no where in sight. I think they stay hidden in the top of the palm trees when it rains.
I did go for my morning walk Down to the lake to see the couple at there nest, there literally there 24/7 guarding the nest from predators.
So I kinda feel like I’m there uber eats almonds delivery service now lol. Coz there not out as much foraging, I think they appreciate it when I come down to see them with almonds

Sunset sunflower garnage
They could not eat fast enough! They love them!!
I tried to hand feed them but the seeds are too small and they are so ravenous they kept accidentally nipping my hand… So I just gave them there own little piles of seeds. They make a lot of mess
I then rewarded them with an almond when they finished there dinners

Once they move into the house that’s when you’ve gotta charge rent or make them famous online.
Maybe the black and white birds are the “angel and devil on your shoulder” concept brought to life.
