That’s right @SussexGuy putting down the drink permanently is the goal. But sometimes ‘akways and forever’ sounds unbearable, that’s why we take it one day at a time. Not to make it a period or a deadline but to make sure in certain situations when cravings him in hard or temptation is to strong then we need to take it a second, a minute, an hour at a time to push through.
I’ve been there when I really felt I don’t need alcohol at all, I was free of even thinking of having a drink. I didn’t have the feeling of giving up on something but I felt given the present of sobriety and I was beyond grateful for it. What I didn’t see with all that peaceful feeling and knowledge and commitment, was the possibility that sneaky thoughts would make there way back to my subconscious after all. I was not prepared for that slow sneaky creeping in because consciously I was free of the poison alcohol and more that grateful and welling to keep it like that. But be aware of your subconscious as you don’t have power over it in the first place. You need to ge prepared. And that’s what I start working on now.
Have a peaceful sober day today.
