I agree that a poorly timed kick can have negative consequences, but sometimes…

I really like: “I can’t, WE can”.
You can’t kick an addiction and recover all on your own. You need a good support system, and I feel very blessed for that.

We have to let go of our old ideas absolutely.
This is in the Big Book and something my new sponsor pointed out to me. I need to be willing to let go of my old ideas, even “good” ones, absolutely and to ask God to make my ideas align with His and the program. It’s challenging everything I believe, holding it up and examining it under the light of truth that is revealing the ideas that are blocking my serenity, threaten my sobriety and keep me in self will.

I was at church today. Near the end of the service during a lovely, quiet moment which I thought was beautiful for the priest to give us, I said the 7th step prayer to myself.
Suddenly I heard inside of myself, “Live in this day.”

I don’t know if this is an AA saying or just a saying, but I remind myself of it multiple times a day:
I never heard anyone say they regretted getting sober.
And it’s true, I haven’t.
