Good morning dear friends,

Starting day 32 without smoking, 12 without binge eating, 2 without sugar.

Yesterday my daughter had some sweets. It would have been so easy to steal a few of them. But I learned that its not the time to make an exception, so I stayed strong. Feels good today that yo didn‘t slip.

Since I don‘t binge anymore before going to bed, I find myself becoming hungry in the mornings. That is a new experience and I think its healthy.

Congrats @Aleyadaisey ! This is so inspiring!

Hello @Alycia
Thank you very much for reaching out and asking
I was thinking a few times to contribute here but then got swamped in work after my holiday.
I was in Vietnam for 16 days and I didn’t have a chance to binge there. I over ate on a few occasions but nothing too major. Since we came back to the UK last Friday morning, I didn’t binge. Initially because I had jetlag and was going to bed at about 6pm for approximately 3 days after the return (I binge mainly before bed, so that wasn’t an option) and now I am snacking a bit but not binging.
However, I know how it is and I am wary that the snacking is going to progress.
I should book my therapy but because I wasn’t as bad as I was before I went for holiday, I was postponing it. I shall call today and start it.

I’m very happy reading that you and some others are doing well. You guys are a true inspiration and hope that it is possible to get better :hugs:

Starting day 34 cigarettes free, day 13 binge eating free, day 3 sugar free.

Yesterday I had some trouble to find whats the right size and amount of meals throughout the day. I ended up with eating too much for dinner. Not because of a binge but just because I don’t feel it when my body is full.

How do you manage this challenge? I thought about tracking my calorie intake so I can see where I stand. Suggestions are welcome :hugs:

Quitting sugar is hard! But I stayed strong and will keep it up.

I wish you all a happy and sober day :purple_heart:

@DanielaJ It took me a while to find the right balance with meal sizes. There are a few tactics I tried out.

One was to eat my meals for a bit as mindfully as possible. No phone, no tv, no distractions, focusing on every bite, putting away the silverware between the bites, experiencing the taste and the texture, etc.
That helped me to experience far more food satisfastion, get a better feeling what my body likes, and give my system more time and opportunity to send me satiety signals. After a while I was able to recognize those signals far earlier, with less mindfulness, and that helped me to utilize it in daily life. I still use it when I feel like I need a readjust.

Another one was to do the palm size method to plan my meals to get an estimate how much food and what proportions I generally need to feel satiety without getting hangry or overstuff.

I completed 34 days smoke free (which was kind of easy), 14 days binge free, 4 days sugar free.

I am deeply grateful for my sober journey and I feel myself healing :mending_heart:

I can’t thank you guys enough for having my back. Without this amazing community I wouldn‘t have come this far.

Hi everyone! Havent posted in this thread for awhile. I sure am proud of everyone on here tho for doing so well and for just being here on this thread.

I have been doing not too bad with binge eating (my medication does seem to help with that), but I guess what I am struggling with now is what is considered “normal” eating. I have no idea what is considered “normal”.

Im also trying to learn to decifer what is my ED thinking and what is actually MY thinking. I try to ask myself questions such as: Am I really hungry right now? Am I wanting to use food to cope with something right now? If so, how can this need be met without food?

I find the weekends the hardest too. Im at work where it is quite boring (my client doesnt like staff in his space very often so we sit in the office behind a closed door) and support him when he requests for us. I find boredom a big trigger to snack and overeat too. I brought some healthy alternatives for myself today. Hoping that helps.

All n all tho, I have lost 10lb since Oct 1st and thats a good sign that my ED is not taken over control too often. It shows that I am not overeating very often. I dont really keep track of my days binge free, as it was discouraging in the past to have to reset so often. But I feel like its been at least a week since my last binge
