Binge eating recovery daily check in thread (Part 3)

Hey lovely people, today I painted a watercolor picture of my little “binge monster.” Isn’t it cute? And pretty annoying at the same time. When my cravings come, I imagine that this little monster is challenging me to a fight. And then I believe that I’ll win!

Huge thank you to @Butterflymoonwoman for supporting the idea of illustrating my cravings :purple_heart:

Day 1804 : No binge today.

@DanielaJ Awesome art! I hope illustrating him helps you! Does he have a name, like someone would give to an OC? You’re doing great on your timers too!

15 days binge eating free! I am happy and grateful.

@Aleyadaisey Did‘t think of a name for binge monster yet. But maybe I will come up with one

I also realized that binge monster helped me for years to deal with challenging feelings and cover them. Now that I start to feel and validate my feelings, binge monsters help is not needed anymore.

That means scary and anxious times for binge monster! I cover it in comfort and compassion and send it to a long deserved 5star vacation. Do you think binge monster might enjoy that? @Butterflymoonwoman

Am interested in how to recover from this and how to know if you have or have not binge ate?

Hey Brandee, nice to meet you!

I am an emotional eater. Food helped me for years to push unpleasant feelings away. So for me, it‘s all about being in contact with myself and notice the difference between eating to feed and nourish my body and eating to cover feelings.

When it happens and I go from „just eating“ to emotional eating I use my tools to stop. If that is not succesful and I go on and on eating or snacking all night long, for me that is a binge. I think everyone must find his*hers own red lines, because we can’t just quit all food forever.

I am in early recovery, so I can only share what was important for me in the first days:

  • Clear decision I need to quit
  • List of reasons why I want to quit
  • Knowing my trigger foods and avoiding them
  • Increase proteins to help my body feel full and satisfied
  • Knowing triggering situations and be extra aware of them
  • Come here when cravings hit and share
  • Doing it one day at a time

I love that you are here and ask for advice, I hope mine was helpful

38 days smoke free, 18 days binge free, 8 days sugar free.

I still have trouble with my stomach. Binge eating and loads of sugar and carbs ruined my guts over the years. I need medical help for this so today I will make appointments with a gastroenterologist and a naturopath to get both medical and non medical help.

Have a happy and sober day :purple_heart:
