I also didnât eat breakfast for many years and I was so reluctant to do so! Now, I wouldnât go without it.
I am glad you reached the realisation (quite quickly actually). Yes, this is how it works - more you deny yourself the food, bigger the cravings later.. Cravings can come from place of habits (e.g. eating in front of TV), but usually, theyâre a result of not eating enough. Itâs our bodiesâ natural reaction to survive (despite thereâs not a real danger to our life).
They way our body and brain work is so complex. One needs to research a lot to somewhat understand how it all works from the physiological aspekt. More I educated myself, the more sense it made and I could clearly see some of the mistakes I was doing.
As always - I am wishing you all the best on your journey

Tonight, people around me were having pizza and I didnât even pay an attention to it. Later I bought myself a chocolate but had none because I felt tired and decided that itâs sleep what I need, not sugar. I feel so good that I can make these choices. There were times when I felt powerless and there would be no chance that I would leave a chocolate uneaten like this. I can see a progress and it feels good ![]()
Btw, since January I put on weight, nothing major, and I donât mind. I looked at some photos of me taken today and I feel pretty. I feel absolutely fantastic in my body now! I started strength exercises over a month ago so it is possible that I gained muscles. And I drink much more water and less coffee too (over 2l daily as opposed to 1 glassâŚ).
I am very happy ![]()
Day 6
Did the 1st 3 steps with my new OA sponsor today. The obsession for food as lessened since starting OA and Im grateful for that. I am continuing to eat breakfast daily to help with that urge to binge or overeat later on. And thats helping tremendously. But Im learning that food isnt actually the problem. Food is in fact just a symptom of my actual problem, which is being able to live life effectively. I feel like this is going to work to not only help me with my issues with food, but also with other things I can get addicted to or that I use to cope.
Amazing posts, Jana and Dana! I am so happy for you both! Thank you for sharing ![]()
Oh this is wonderful Jana!!! Thats impressive work! Shows u have alot of self awareness in figuring out what u really needed (sleep). Thats not easy to do in the moment. Proud of u!

Love that sentence: Food is not the problem.
My therapist told me this exact sentence million times over and over.
Well done, @Butterflymoonwoman on how youâre doing. I hope that you will find your way out of this ugly addiction. We all deserve freedom in our minds ![]()
Wonderful that you see progress Jana ![]()
Happy for you that you are discovering these things ![]()
I had an important visit to attend. She bought me one of my favorite pastries. I decided to enjoy it. It was ok to do it and it didnât bother me afterwards.
Day 1984 : No binge today. ![]()
2 months and 23 days no binging today!
Last night I saw how a binging person looks like. On my mum. Sheâs got this âdiet/bingeâ issue⌠It was very interesting to look at her behaviour. I saw myself. I wish I could give her my wisdom, but she doesnât want to hear it. She believes in her current diet.
Day 8
I was truly nervous about my eating for today and tomorrow. Weekends are hard for me, as Ive mentioned before. I wasnt sure what to expect but I planned my meals for work well. I even skipped the 450 calorie Tim Hortons coffee i normally get on the weekends, knowing how that would make me feel. I did my prayer along with the Step 3 prayer. I found that the obsession for food was not strong while at work. Im omw home and we will see how the evening goes ![]()
Day 1985 : No binge today. ![]()
Yesterday, I was invited to BBQ. I didnât binge, I didnât over eat, and I didnât eat anything else after I came back home, even though my partner was munching on a chocolate right next to me. I just had a cup of tea and went to bed.
Itâs a huge success for me ![]()

I have been dancing Argentine Tango for about 10 years. I didnât go there much in the last year because I struggled with the sometimes a little superficial atmosphere in the Tango community. I needed a break.
Yesterday I went to a Tango Milonga again and it has been an amazing evening. My body remembered the music, the steps, everything. I met some people I like and they made coming back easy for me. I am very grateful.

Day 9
So last night I got a call that the overnight HCA for my son called in. And of course there was no one to replace her. So i ended up doing the overnight. I was angry⌠and worried. Being angry, doing the overnight, and being tired are all things that would cause me to emotionally eat or binge. Well i have been reminding myself to pray about things 1st and then take action. So i prayed to my HP asking for the obsession for food to be removed. And it worked! I didnt emotionally eat last night due to anger. I didnt go to the fridge in the middle of the night to eat. And this morning, I did grab an extra coffee as I was tired, BUT I did not buy a donut or muffin or anything of the sort. So id say so far, it was a win! I think what was lacking for me (when it comes to my ED) was a strong connection with God. Letting go of control. Turning my will over to Him. Its been a beautiful journey so far with OA ![]()
