Blood pressure

I stopped drinking 78 days ago and I’ve had high blood pressure for years and are eating medication for it.
However, lately I’ve felt light headed and suddenly my BP has been sort of low.

Had anyone else experienced this?

I’m on day 76. I know that when I was still drinking, I always had this very tense feeling in my head — like constant pressure. I never took anything for it, but for the past few weeks, that feeling has completely gone away.

Congratulations on your sober time! You’re doing amazing!

Alcohol intake, especially in excess, can increase blood pressure. Once we quit, our blood pressure can reduce. I experienced this as well. Might be good to book a medical appointment. They may decide to reduce your meds especially if permanent sobriety is your goal. A home BP monitor can be handy too. Congrats on 78 days! Keep up the good work

I went through the same thing . Had really high BP for many years and took meds . Once I quit drinking it dropped and my doctor took me off the medication . I no longer have high blood pressure.

Same here. Mine started between 15 and 20 days after quitting. I was on BP meds also. I was doing yard work and started feeling as though I was going to pass out. Sat down for a few then checked BP. It was WAY low, 85/50 and heart rate was 146??? This was on a Saturday. On Monday, Doc took me off BP meds and readings have been normal since. Doc indicated that I was close to going into shock. Scary to say the least. Congrats on 78 days!!!
