Celebratory Tattoo

I am currently processing my thoughts on a new tattoo that I want to get in celebration of hitting one year sober.
Has anyone else done this, and if so what did you get done or what have you thought of?

This has much symbolism to it, though date is kinda messed, but you get the idea.
It will most likely be on forearm and involve more flames in it… dunno, still playing.

Looks great! I don’t have any ink myself but I admire the artistry of it.

There’s a whole tattoo thread here if you wanna see what some others have been doing, maybe you can share your ideas and get some input there:

Jinx! :joy:

Yes, thanks Matt. I’m aware of the tattoo thread as I’ve shared there before.
I was looking for specific celebratory tattoos or ideas/thoughts on without it being buried on an existing thread regarding all tattoos.

Thanks

I like the concept. The only idea or addition I could think of is for every new anniversary to add a petal or a flower to keep displaying your journey… or something along those lines

It is cool tattoo, the flame and adding dates are great ideal. Just make sure you go to a good tattoo artist. :artist:

If I could offer one piece of advice it would be to not include the date. I’ve seen that go horribly wrong a few times. I have been sober a little while now and feel very comfortable in my sobriety but I would not put my date in a tattoo. The rest looks cool AF tho.

Good point D.

Maybe a tattoo of something that symbolises Sobriety to you, I don’t have any but my ‘symbol’ would be my kids so I keep a photo of them with my first 24 hour chip in to remind me of my commitment. Kinda lame compared to a tattoo @Chevy55 :face_with_peeking_eye::smiley:

I love the idea. I have commemorative tattoos from meeting my 1st husband and then my rebirth after his death, among other tattoos. I love them. I agree with Derek, leave out the date. I have several jewelry pieces I wear with my sober date. But I 100% support some beautiful art such as you shared, and also love @Philipwithonel 's idea of adding petals…brilliant.
