Checking in Daily to Maintain Focus #12

I’m not on here as much either and have unfortunately fell off on my daily check ins (which isn’t exactly a good thing due to covid because my mind has been flirting with the idea of drinking again - romanticizing due to boredom). But I’m still sober. I hope you’re well too!

I’ll be glad to see you on the forum on your more regular basis - you know you are drifting a little and how challenging that is! Stay sober, sober is better

240 Days. It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in but I do read this thread everyday. My daughter is having uncontrollable meltdowns nightly over isolation. Walks are not cutting it anymore. She wants life to get back to normal. This weekend I’m focusing on her and what she wants to do which means I’ll be doing legos and playing video games. I’ll do anything that makes her happy just to have some peace around here.

Working from home has been a challenge. It’s always chaos in my house right when a virtual meeting starts. Even the dog chimes in with his barking. Atleast my husband finally sees how hard I work. He’s mentioned it many times this week. Maybe he’ll be more understanding when I say I’m tired from working or why I can’t get all our personal shit done during the day.

Life is tough and I keep reminding myself that a drink or a drug will not help my situation. I’ll continue to live life on life’s terms. Stay strong everyone!

She’s 27 but has disabilities so mentally about 10. She’s normally happy and always smiling. I’ll just give her some extra attention this weekend.

Well I’m really proud of you and I would ask your friends how are you going to fit in with me. Plus I wouldn’t trust a boss who drinks, look what it did for us.

I find that once we start relaxing the routine that kept us sober then alcohol soon rears its ugly head. sobriety for me will always be a work in progress, I’m sure it’ll be easy many times but I’ll never expect it to be my god given right ever again, too many relapses have taught me I’ve got to put some mental energy into it on a regular basis.

I’m sorry about the relapse, it wasn’t worth it, was it? I’m glad you’re back on the wagon. :+1::hugs:

@Joy No it certainly wasn’t worth it, but in some ways I dodged a bullet, it could have been much worse. Gotta just suck it up and watch the numbers go up again slowly. Hitting 5 months is my next goal. Blessings and sobriety back to you.

Shay, we’re both getting closer to 365, I’m astonished I’ve got this far, yay! Hey, there’s nothing romantic about drinking but passing out, vomiting and those damn hangovers. :pensive: So @Desire2ChangeToday let’s stay strong, safe and sober. :hugs:
@Lisa07, thinking of you and the challenges you’re having with your daughter during this crisis but this too shall pass and soon we’ll be free-ish in our movements. :hugs: :hugs:
