Checking in Daily to maintain focus #13

PM’ing you in a bit :slight_smile:

Day 97

It feels great to wake up sober and clear minded. No matter what is going on Im at least present to deal with fatigue, stress, etc. Its been a gorgeous stretch of days which has put me in a funk like many others. Im going to continue using this resource daily to keep myself accountable.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

I now see it is all about reminding oneself everyday to stay sober. Your pain is my pain.

Day 112. Yesterday was ok I went for a nice bike ride, I was a lil upset my buddy last Thursday asked if I can still help with a yard he takes care of… I said yes and messaged him yesterday, he said it’s too hot. So I said ok well what’s you’re plans today, didn’t answer I finally messaged back… He said idk and then there is pictures on social media on FB with him and my other friends out on the boat. Really made me sad this kid has been my best friend since I was 13. I think I’m gonna tell him NVM on helping him with his yard, he only gets ahold of me when he needs something. Any way I’m going for another bike ride, today I’m just going for distance, no hikes, and no off road hoping for like 60 miles will see

I’m sorry Lisa. It’s hard enough dealing with insensitive comments from people we should feel the most comfortable around…but to create a scene and make an audience is a whole other level of frustration! I hope you’ve slept it off a bit. Prayers for a better day. :bowing_woman:t5:

If you aren’t good enough for the social invitations then you aren’t good enough for the yard work! I wouldn’t think you’d be off base to withdraw yourself from the manual labor. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I hope new relationships bloom from the loss of others.

Day 9, feeling quite fresh quite focused, but a bit nervous as Im at a funeral tomorrow.

I’ve arranged to drive, drink will no doubt be nagging on some folks heads. I plan to pay my respects and get my arse back home sober :muscle:

Sorry to hear that. Friendships come and go as we evolve and grow. Stay strong, some of those friends will most likely quit boozing someday.

congratulations on your 2 weeks, love to see this. Well done :+1::100::muscle::tada:

I am sorry this happened. Especially right before a dinner. Hopefully you are able to shake it off. Whatever you do, do not pick up. It will only make things worse. Keep reaching out.

Day 8 => 172 (days to 6 mos sober)

Drive back from Charleston this morning to beat traffic. Now I need to do chores, groceries, etc. Traffic was 4:1 out of state to SC plates. I can tell you they are not social distancing or wearing masks. New York, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina.

Shout out to the 6 month celebration crew!!! We have 172 days ( approximately to go for anyone remotely close ):

Day 9 with double digits in sight! Yesterday I did yard work and got a 25 mile bike ride in, which caused me to wake up a little sore but in a great way. I felt fantastic on the bike after no wine in over a week. Joking with my bike buddy I told him I’m social distancing, which used to be known as dropping him.

Happy Memorial Day to those in the US. The rain has returned to Seattle and I’m going to have a quiet day of reading.

@Lisa07 and @SassyRocks So much agree on how exhausting kids can be, which makes me understand why our ovaries stop making eggs in our 40’s :-). My 4 month old grandson gives me so much joy, but I get to hand him back to my son and daughter-in-law and get some rest!
@Lisa07 Hugs, and sorry your day ended in a fight. Next time take the walk! Who cares what the neighbors think, and it wasn’t you being inappropriate by yelling and making a scene. You need to be able to escape and get some exercise, and leave the guilt to the guilty party.
@BeckInReal and @Bobdhil Congrats on a week, you got this!
@Blueroom 6 months, woo hoo!!!
@Desire2ChangeToday Beautiful pics, and congrats on staying sober amongst those drinking around you.
@Thumper1213 Congrats on the 2 week milestone!
@Charlesfreck Fantastic!!! 3.5 years.
@Will3 welcome back to sobriety

@CapriciousCapricorn So sorry you had a similar ‘taste’ experience yesterday. I hadn’t experienced that before, and it came totally out of the blue and seemed so real!! My 1st failed attempt was to swat it away. 2nd was to distract myself. 3rd attempt was to tell my thoughts to go away, negotiation-style. My 4th and 5th attempts (combined) worked. I made one of my two soft drinks that I have in reserve for when cravings are bad, and I practiced mindfulness, where I calmly immersed myself in the heavy craving thoughts, acknowledging them until they dissipated.

I can’t remember, do you have a therapist? That has helped me a lot, although I am also taking psych meds.

Talking to your friend is great!! :+1: You can also share here. It often helps others feel less alone with their crappy thoughts. My personal view is that managing our thoughts is key. Some days are just a lot harder than others.

Sorry, I’m rambling!! Take care! :kissing_heart::hugs::kissing_heart:
