Checking in daily to maintain focus #15

They exist, Swedish folklore (and gipsy tales) are filled with magic and magical creatures.

There’s the fairies that dances on the fields looking like mist, or the old field lady who starts a fire to stay warm when the mist comes at fall or winter.

There’s the water sprite Nacken (Näcken) and the BrockHorse (Bäckahästen) who lives in waters like rivers.

The gray house elfs who keeps the farms under his surveillance.

Trolls who lives in the forests together with the forest raw.

Mermaids in the ocean, together with Kraken.

The Nordic Heathen Gods like Thor and Odin with Bifrost (The bride into Valhalla, it’s the rainbow)

And the gypsy magic in spells, charms, brews, tarotcards, palm readings and crystalballs.

Well the original Mermaids isn’t really friendly creatures either, actually non of the creatures are. They are supposed to lure you into death. Thor and Odin might be good guys but they aren’t really helpful like Gods are “supposed” to be.

Yes, and before that they where the Gods of Swedish (and Norse) religion. Than came the Christians and forced us to change. However there’s still a lot if people here hanging on to the Heathen gods.

Back to 0 today…I feel very shameful…It’d been cooking under the surface for a while…My numbers (112 !) had begun to look like something out of Duolinguo, a nice number to be proud of but the work behind it had lost its meaning a bit. I thought I could handle drinking away my stress with a couple of wine glasses, yeah right. 5pm next day and I’m still half comatose, so so ashamed.I need the get the mind work again to start again. Minute by minute again

Day 512. Its looking increasingly likely that my job will become a ‘work from home’ job permanently and that i’ll never go back to the office. Lockdown has shown how much I rely on work for the vast majority of my social interactions so naturally Im nervous about what this means for me moving forward. I’m worrying a lot about the future tbh. I’m seriously thinking about moving house too. If Im going to be spending most of my time at home from now on I need more space, my small apartment is feeling increasingly like a prison.

On a positive note, my mood has settled a bit, not quite as miserable as Ive been these past few weeks. I’ve seen a few people talking about screen time, social media etc on here and I decided to make an effort to limit my time online and read more instead. I think that has had an impact.

Have a great day folks :+1:

He won’t drag you down if you stay out of his area. And that’s said to be in the sea between Norway and Greenland. An area with severe storms and what’s said to be an unlimited source of fish. Where it’s huge amounts of fish it’s possible to get caught by Kraken.

Mermaids doesn’t really get you a choice, not in our mythology, they lure men down in the ocean with their beautiful song that’ll enchant you and make you drown.
That’s why Ariels voice is central in the tale of the little mermaid.

I wish I knew the feeling of surfing, it must feel so amazing.

I totally get that and have felt it. I’ve mentioned before I used to body surf when I lived on the east coast here in my 20s and I was like a kid when I caught one all the way in!
Glad you had that yesterday.

I feel exactly the same; when I was living in NH for a couple years way back when I had said to my husband, “I need to go to a beach!”, meaning the ocean, and he said “there’s one down the street”… I said that’s a pond! That’s not a beach…lol
I’m Aquarius so water is in my blood.:dolphin:
