Checking in daily to maintain focus #18

The beginning of Day 6 for me here in :uk: ! Avoided the usual “quick pint” after a round of golf yesterday with friends and happy to stick to water / herbal tea yesterday evening .
Time to walk the :dog: in our local forest and listen to an uplifting podcast .
What’s everyone else doing / been up to today ?!
Keep the positive energy and vibrations going guys and girls :+1::+1:

Day 6
My godparents dropped by yesterday, they live close but I don’t meet them often.
If I knew they where on their way I would have stopped them because they boys are having a cold. But we followed all the Coronarestrictions and recommendation we could and they didn’t meet the boys. So I hope they’ll be alright.

We bought our house from their son, but unfortunately my godparents doesn’t have any contact with him and neither does we. My godfather has lived the wildlife, with a lot pf alcohol a few turns to jail and all that. They stopped by because he heard about me trying to get sober, and he just wanted to tell me that next week it’s three years since he got completely sober himself. And that he wished he’d done it sooner. They are both somewhere around 70 years old. So he wanted to show that it’s never to late and absolutely doable no matter your age.

It was really nice to meet them. And we got invited to my godfathers birthday in a few weeks. A very surprising but uplifting meeting.

Boys are still having a bad cold, and I still having trouble to sleep. Husband is home from work (he leaves again tomorrow) the sun ia shining and the boys have Monday off school. If feels like it’s going to be a wonderful day

Wishing y’all a happy Saturday and hoping you’ll get a fabulous weekend.

Agreed !
It’s amazing how clouded / foggy the mind becomes through alcohol and then becomes the “normal” on a daily basis.
It takes a good while for it to clear and then be able to see a better world through fresh/clear eyes.
Keep smiling  !!

Sun just turned into heavy and cold rain. Doesn’t look like it’ll clear up. But I’m going to try to go for a walk when the rain stops. It just mean that we’ll have a cozy indoor day :umbrella:
I usually gets down on cold gray and rainy days, but this year I’m thinking about taking a count on the rainy, muddy and snowy. Maybe it isn’t as bad or as many as I think.

Almost 12 days so just checking in. Seem to sleep a lot better but wake with the same anxiety that I’ve always had and why I wou drink, just to take it away.

But…I know I’d feel worse if I drank :slightly_smiling_face:

Will allow me to get some counselling (sober).

Small steps for the minute though :slightly_smiling_face:

  1. Coffee. It’s the last weekend of my holidays. My kitchen project needs some tidying up. I want to get some plants and repot the ones I have. The Tour de France is in the Pyrenees. Hope to see one of those stages with my bestie. Will give her a call soon. So my weekend by enlarge is set. No time for drinking. Well, watching cycling together in fact I did have the time for it. It was an excuse to start drinking early.
No more. Drinking is stupid. For me. I’ll bring some of these instead. This ginger drink helped to make my first sober festival last year a success, only 2 months into my sobriety. I drank a lot of it but not as much as I would have drank beer. Happy to have found it back recently at my local organic grocery. Have a good weekend all. Sober and clean. Love from Amsterdam.

Day 25
Evening with the kids alone again. Am feeling slightly triggered that he came home at 2am yesterday, so I went to the library, did homework, went to the park, etc with the kids today, because he was tired, and he is out again. I also deserve some fun, I am thinking. Booze wouldn’t actually be fun tho, would it?

It would not! Think of other fun things to do Flo. With or without kids. Online or in 3D. And find a way to make some happen. Sober. You certainly deserve fun. Boozing isn’t that. You know it. Hugs.
@DrkniteNZ What’s happening friend? For me being here helps, but sharing about what’s happening to and triggering me, and getting some feedback on that, helps more. Congrats on your nearly 600 days!
