DAY 1075

I was woken yesterday (Wednesday) to a message from a friend of my uncle, telling me he had a major stroke sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. Being on a short vacation with the family, I was unable to return until this afternoon. I talked to his nurse yesterday and they said he had responded to physical and cognitive therapy so I was shocked to see his condition. Though he is able to comprehend what I was saying, he is unable to verbally communicate. He did reach for me with his left hand, so that let me know he does understand. Because of an advanced health directive and his inability to recover without an extensive rehabilitation, the person who has a power of attorney, directed all but comfort care be stopped. I had noticed he didn’t have any fluids attached to his IV line, but didn’t make the connection. With my uncle unable to swallow and all care with the exception if pain management stopped, he probably has only a day or two remaining. Looking into his blue eyes knowing that tomorrow (Friday) he will be moving into a skilled nursing facility to die is really hard. Knowing that I stole pain pills from him in my active addiction 3 years ago makes me sad I betrayed his trust. Though he forgave me, I can’t forgive myself.

Today, I’m clean. Tomorrow I will hit 1076 days clean. I’m sharing this because I’m hoping someone that if else is going through something like this, they know that they can get through it clean/sober.

PS, I’m still chasing you

So what happened? Drink a lot of water today. Rest. Maybe get yourself out to catch some fresh air. Be kind to yourself and keep fightingšŸ’ŖšŸ¾

Morning everyone. Hit day 60 today which I’m happy with . Still a long way to go I know that and it’s constantly having to put the work into this isn’t it ? Like you have always got to be working on yourself and your thoughts to stay sober. Never want to go back as life whilst still difficult sometimes is always better when you can deal with it sober. Have a great day x

Good morning to you all  day 4 begins, back on the bicycle to work as I feel more energetic and motivated, it’s crazy when you realize your an addict, I have work colleagues who can drink 1 day a week and I’ve realized that’s not me at all :joy: been reading alot of the comments and it’s really inspirational to see how many people are succeeding incredibly on the road to sobriety.

Because you’re a REAL one. My last relapse was 7 months into recovery! some of us put our toes in and have to fight to pull our souls out! Lol welcome back, let’s add on this lesson and get back in this fight. I got back in the fight and im approaching that 7 month milestone. Love you much, thanks for sharing.

I tried that too the nonalcoholic drinks . I bought like 2 bottle of the NA wine . NOT the same . I took one sip and brought one bottle back. There is no point of drinking that stuff without the alcohol because it does not taste good. I have found a new love. Carbonated prickly pear juice. I get it at publix. Congrats on your 444 day sober .

  1. Coffee. Had a mentally exhausting day yesterday, with triggering happenings and exchanges here and in group therapy. And was initiated in train delays and detours. I made it through and here’s another day. I need some solo time. It’s cold out so I might prefer a hike to a bike ride. I’ll think about it for a little bit. Don’t have to think about my drinking or smoking. There will be none. Sober and clean I am and that’s the way I want to stay. Life is so much better this way. have a good day all. Clean and sober. For (my own) inspiration I’ll post myself, three years ago today hiking in Sequoia National Forest CA. Love.
