Day 312.
I gotta say, I’m feeling pretty good about things. It wasn’t the easiest week, but it was still good. I conquered some personal admin/paperwork, some big work tasks too - with less stress and little resentment. (Choices, choices, everywhere!). I spent tonight getting my little home tidied and packing to go visit Mom. Will be so good to see her. A big one: I marked the 3rd anniversary of my dear Dad’s death (first one without raising a glass).
All of these were reasons to crack open a bottle, this time last year. To celebrate, to grieve, to reward, to numb. But this way really is better. I’ll take the quiet of the early mornings, the presence of mind to notice the chattering birds on my walk, the way a friend’s laugh on the phone makes me laugh. I’ll take life raw, uncut, straight up…
And that, friends, is what we’re gonna do again tomorrow, yeah?
G’night all - big love.
@SoberWalker oh beauty hike! I’m so grateful you shared about feeling wobbly. It helps me know it’s okay to have those days, and double-decker ok to reach out.
@Joy I missed your 666.66 winning streak! Congrats, amazing lady!
Checking in on day 17. So far this spring was really damn cold and ugly. Now a beautiful sunny, warm weekend ahead. Yaay. Was a bit depressed last night but a good night’s sleep solves a lot! Wishing everyone a great sober Saturday with lots of sun
I love reading about your dry, grass, coffee sipping, music festivals and hanging with the kiddos. That is life and life is amazing…I love “normalcy” lord knows we have all had enough chaos in our lives. Its important for newcomers to see that we can attain that normalcy… that we can claw our way out of the chaos and live a “normal” type life. So even though you may not feel like you are making any “major life changing” statements in your check ins… you probably are. Strength in simplicity.
I find them so useful, you and I were on similar journeys around a year ago, and from then you have done amazing so I listen carefully to your posts wanting your strength. I sometimes worry about quality of my posts as many on here are so articulate, but if it comes from the heart it’s all relevant… you go girl
I did my river swim . Thoughts of pulling out all day literally forced myself. River was in a pretty village 6 miles away. Need not have worried about the 3 other ladies they were so lovely, welcoming and hilarious. They say cold water swimming makes you feel alive it sure does that freezing! But once I started swimming felt better, swam for 20 mins, ladies made me get out, you do go cold after… had hot chocolate and cake sat next to river after. It was so amazing, I was buzzing. Was so tired when I got home shower and asleep by 9 but an amazing sleep. So proud I did it. Some pictures not brill, had to crop so quality not great… @Beforemy30s you must do it it is amazing totally. I am going again tomorrow and forecast is good.!
Have a strong sober day FB_IMG_1619498331867|666x500
Morning everyone! 3 months sober today for me so I’m well pleased at that milestone and have reflected this first hour of being aware of where I started and where I am now . From being anxious constantly, hiding bottles of vodka and then forgetting where I had put them , lying , falling over , not remembering conversations etc to now where I’m at peace , more energy , more interest , less weight ! Happier and relaxed.
I still miss it ? The ability to sensibly drink I mean but I could never do that so it’s not going to happen. Completely sober is my life from now on. Anyway just wanted to share my milestone . Have a lovely day everyone, it’s pouring down here in the UK so it’s a nice chill out day for me I think x
Amazing pictures! So glad you enjoyed it. I asked rhe people at work yesterday about it so will try join this week. Think I need to get some gloves and socks ordered maybe! I’m excited for it. Enjoy it again today

Busy day… just journalled, its raining here, sat at table planning my day; shopping, sort out my office at home, booking some campsites for end of May as restrictions lifted for camping, so looking forward to it. Happy to get jobs done as weather so wet! Raining view from my table
