Congratulations @Singtone on each single day! Wonderful and so happy for you that you have “seen the light” Yay!!
Restaurant business all my life.
I was one of those “functioning alcoholics”
Functioning my ass. It was so exhausting. I kinda wish Sober Me could go back and work side by side with Functioning Alcoholic Me. And smack me off the side of the head.
I guess while I’m here:
Checking in day 568.
I had a real nice sober day today. I think I’ll probably have another one tomorrow.
I understood myself only after I destroyed myself.
And only in the process of fixing myself, did I know who I really was.

Aw thank you @Singtone !! I thought of you on my last day! It certainly did feel emotional for me. Can’t imagine what it was like for you after 11 years. It’s such a hard job but but such an amazing job as well. Going to miss my kids and colleagues a lot.
Really excited for the next bit though and think I will love it, as you have. And you are totally right…I’m a good friend for a myriad of reasons, none of which revolve around drink so I need to remember that. Hope you’re enjoying your summer break!
Day 60 again.
Feels like way more than 60, but do feel pretty steady this time around. Got a good life/recovery/work/health balance.
Hope you’all keeping well
Never forget, we create our own reality , in turn , we create our own future be happy in your now, always take the next best step, and always love…your glowing, happy, abundant future is waiting for you
I know what you mean. I can’t believe how much better I am at my job now that I don’t drink. I kind of wonder now where I might be had I gone through my career sober.
It’s my second biggest regret about the whole thing. My first is the time that I’ve wasted, but the second is that.
Third is the hit that my health has taken, and fourth is the cash I’ve wasted, if you’re interested.
Triple digits woot woot congrats !!
First ever sober summer break is going great. Much better than I would have expected before I stopped drinking and felt the benefits.
Notice you didn’t say that you would miss the parents from your school.
@anon53116147 Congratulations!
@YeeYeeViking Congratulations! Great stuff!
@Luckyredz You are doing great too!
@apes2020 Brilliant!
@Singtone I hear you on the career. I wonder that too. But also getting sober has made me appreciate the slower life, and the smaller things, so maybe I wouldn’t actually have been leaning in that much, even if I had quit earlier. I sure as hell actually enjoy working now, rather than suffering through a class hungover.
I could not agree more with everything you’ve said here. I suspect that the universe has me in the right place. Thanks, Fleur.
209 days
All good after a great sleep, just having a coffee and thinking about busy week ahead.
Leaving two jobs Wed, doing highest and fastest zipwire in wales on Friday yikes! Moving my son back to uni Sunday, then a week camping with my dog cannot wait. Love the new feeling of looking forward to things for what they are. Not looking forward to events so i can drink , and losing every bit of value of the activity… sobriety has such benefits i am truly happy i am working this ODAAT.
No update on my background clearance expect that end of next week so fingers crossed a caution 16 years ago does not impact my job offer. My record is otherwise clean.
Wishing you all a strong, happy and sober Saturday.
Wow massive congratulations on 100 days. Amazing…
- I’ll have one more coffee. A four day late shifts workweek is coming up. I’m feeling pretty good. Need to do one thing I avoided for a while today, as I promised myself to work on my avoidance daily while my group therapy is having a summer break. Doing that right after I finished writing this. I’m sober and clean. One day at a time. Have as good a weekend as you all can friends. Love from Amsterdam and Tokyo where my nephew (the one with his mouth open) and his crew won their series and now are up against the favourite Germans in Friday’s final.
Well done Mike it’s good to have you back where you belong
This is brilliant well done mate
That’s brilliant, Menno. I did wonder which one he was. How amazing to have someone you know well competing at the actual, real life Olympic Games.
Checking in on Day 70 AF
Feeling super tired at 8.30pm. We’ve had our gorgeous 15 month old Granddaughter stay with us for a couple of nights and I’d forgotten how tiring parenting/grandparenting can be lol.
Peace and strength to all
Congratulations, April! Time is running. Enjoy your meal (forget what you planned already but sounded delicious)!
