Checking in daily to maintain focus #40

Oh yeah don’t Google anything!! I did that and thought I had throat cancer- it turned out it was just tonsil stones!! It’s hard not to imagine the worst for sure. I have to do a lot of self-talk with things like that too. Let us know how it goes I’m sure everything will be fine

Checking in on day 311 free from the insanity of active alcoholism. I’m now 16 days out from my retirement from active duty in the US Army. Had a great shoulder/core workout this morning, haircut this afternoon, and now have our kiddo’s choir concert this evening. An excellent relaxing day. No complaints here. It’s a great day to be above ground and sober.

Sooooooo…

My results mostly all looked okay. Some were high, some were low, but she(the Dr) thinks they will even themselves out along the way.

My liver results …show damage which we knew, so I still don’t know fully, I have to get an ultrasound on it as well as my heart because she’s hearing a murmur. My blood pressure and cholesterol are high and I need to buy a blood pressure machine and check it daily and obviously try to get those down with diet and exercise, as well as not drinking liquor .I also have to start taking folic acid and some other shit I think thiamine or something because I’m deficient.

So I won’t know how bad my liver is till after the US. But she didn’t make me feel like death was knocking at my door

Milk thistle is really good for your liver. Obviously with everything going on it might be a good idea to check with your doctor but it can do wonders. They sell it here in Canada at the health food stores. It also comes in some of the adaptogen drink I’ve recently been buying.

I’m not sure if you can get these things where you are.
I’m glad everything else doesn’t seem too bad and I hope it eases your mind. The body is amazing at healing itself, sounds like you’re getting everything on track

Tell me what this looks like, working sobriety every day. I currently have some habits I’m doing every day that I have attached to my success thus far, but I want to know what you (or anyone for that matter) are doing daily. Thank you

ETA: day 75.

I want to drop you a bit of encouragement for tonight’s meeting. I may be too late already, hope not.

If you like the meeting and the people in it , go. The more you stand up for yourself and the more we face out fears the easier it gets and the taller we stand.

I encourage you to do this for you. Stand firm for you and what you believe is best for you. Showing up there again and facing your ex-sponsor may also catapult said ex to be more mindful and do better and also show them that you really mean biz when it comes to your so riery and mental health and just bc they were fired doesn’t mean you would walk out all-together.

Food for thought…

Whatever you do, I trust you’re doing it better and stronger than yesterday.

Sending you love.

Day 12. Cravings today are beyond powerful. I am trying to just stay inside and watch comfort shows and remember I’m so close to two weeks. I can do this. I miss my friends tho. But I’m not willing to risk relapse for my friends. And it feels so weird to put myself first.

Your dream catcher is totally amazing !!! I brought 2 the other day from Amazon still got to put them up im waiting for my new blinds to come and do it all at the same time. I love it wow

Congratulations on 29 days too, lovely to see this :hugs:

You put crystals/stones in them, think it is beautifully made and with positive healing energy as you made it it has more meaning to it.

The ones i brought are made with rope/string sun and a moon one, im going to add fairy light to it now you have me thinking i could really personalise it but i would know where to start

That doesn’t sound too bad Anne.
The body is an amazing healer when we quit poisoning it. It took me awhile to get my blood pressure back down in normal range. Since I quit drinking I sure don’t miss those heart palpitations at bedtime. And some of my liver functions were high but eventually they leveled out and are back to normal. It’s good you got a baseline and you’re getting yourself fixed back up.

I find guided meditations on a regular basis helped a lot getting my blood pressure back where it should be. I still do guided meditations all the time. Just for overall physical and mental health. So many apps out there. Great benefits. I know many of us use Insight Timer. Highly recommend it.
Good for you getting the doctor thing going. I did the same thing when I stopped drinking.

Day 594
Tired. Got thrown into some tough situations this weekend and I’m pretty exhausted. Photo from some fun snowshoeing though.

Starting my work week today and my brain does not want to focus. Have been trying to stop to stretch and meditate through the day on my breaks and that’s helped a bit.

Received some good news today that my first appointment to start seeing a new therapist was confirmed. 3 weeks out but I’m oddly excited. I’ve never been excited for therapy before and I don’t want to get my hopes or expectations up too high but I love the vibes of this therapist and their whole office/the way their intake paperwork and questions went down.

Going to have some tea and start winding down for bed now. Sending love to you all!
