Checking in daily to maintain focus #52

Yep. I had just gotten up, so I assume he was attracted by the body heat. He certainly looked comfortable. I almost hated putting him outside!

You can get a bunch of nasty cancers from this in your mouth and throat.

Welcome Joan to TS!

Checking in day 145. Lost my cool last night. Had a busy day at work, back to back meetings. Husband has been in a funk. Iā€™m trying to be helpful - is there anything I can do? Do you want me to leave you alone? Nope. Just moody refusing to talk about it. Then during my bath which is part of my self care ritual my dad starts power calling me. He has dementia and calls my sister obsessively up to 30 times a day. When he canā€™t reach her he calls me. I always answer when I can and I work hard at being patient with him. Heā€™s also half deaf and you need to shout in the phone. I decided to call him after my bath but the phone was on vibrate and vibrated itself right into the bath tub. I lost it. All of the irritation of the day all at once. I texted my mom and sister and said my phone is off for the night since I donā€™t trust myself not to say something mean. Then I felt bad. Then I escaped into some Netflix and went to bed early. I think I need to do work on some emotional regulation. I can take a lot but when I hit my limit itā€™s not good. Looking forward to a better day today

Day 331. Itā€™s been a long time since I had any cravings, but it happened today. I guess some demons you canā€™t really. deal. with, you must keep them in jail.

I wish a nice week to you all.

This is a really good way! I managed it the same way, I didnā€™t cut it out 100% but maybe 70-80% and some days 100%. With time the cravings stopped, means the body is adjusting, the gut is healing.
There will be a time when you can have sugar every other day but without starting any craving.
Youā€™ve got this

Iā€™ve definitely noticed I am way more mindful about how much sugar is in things! Those packets of oatmeal for instance I was eating two of them in the morningā€¦ thatā€™s 24 grams! I used to not think anything of itā€¦ and today is a ā€œsugarā€ dayā€¦ I had a small slice of cake and it was SO sweet, my taste buds are definitely adjusting! I never even thought about the gut healing aspect of it! Love that.

Hello and welcome, we all find our own rock bottom or at least we think we have until we carry on doing the same things and find thereā€™s a whole new level of bottoms we hadnā€™t reached yet. One day though our feet do touch the ground and we can slowly start to claw our way up again. Takes some work and some effort on our part but take it easy just one day at a time and youā€™ll be amazed what will happen.

Hi Adam, 25 days is a nice amount of time, but from my experience it is still very much in the danger zone. We all struggle at some point and I sure had my fair share of resets before sobriety stuck for longer. Have you thought about what to do different next time around? Really great you found your way back here. Letā€™s do it one day at a time :muscle:

Checking in day 156! Marathon day of clients for my part time job, but so far so good. Then going to get the keys to the new apartment, and gonna take some measurements for furniture. Already got to the gym today, but may go for a walk tonight- trying to make sure I donā€™t get into a rut of just sitting on my couch at night.

Hoping youā€™re all having a terrific sober Tuesday!!

Thanks Pandita. You are right, 25 days is very much still the danger zone and I am under no illusions that Iā€™m still a long way from having security in my sobriety.

What will I do differently in the future? Hopefully I will learn from this experience. Hopefully I will better implement my non drinking strategies. I will keep trying.

Day 359
Busy day today but managed to get most of what i wanted to do, done. Appt this morning for one of my sons new pieces of equipment, went much longer than expected. Then went and grabbed my sons formula for the month from the Childrens Hospital. Then home to put everything away and then workout for an hour. Did up the dishes and started planning supper. And now currently waiting for my sons bus to get here  Need to take time tho to pray and meditate bcuz i havent done that yet. Overall tho a decent day! Weather is like spring here. Grateful for some relief from this cold winter weather. Hope everyone is having an addiction free day
