Checking in daily to maintain focus #58

I watched this movie yesterday as well  Only because of Adam Driver who is one of my celebrity crushes xd (on the podium with Tom Hardy and other guy I never remember his name).

@JazzyS thank you  Iā€™m feeling very hopeful that one day in the not too distant future, my nicotine quit will be over, Iā€™m down to just using 2mg lozenges and 1mg mouthspray now, and I only struggle occasionally, I do still get strong vape cravings sometimes, especially when Iā€™m stressed, but I know Iā€™d just be right back where I started, so I remind myself of that fact, and donā€™t give in. It would be nice to think Iā€™ll be off NRT completely by the end of the year, but the nurses always remind me there is no rush, and I want this quit to be my last, Iā€™ve never tried quitting with NRT before, so I decided to try something different. :crossed_fingers:t2: Iā€™m glad your procedures are over, hoping that you get some answers soon. :crossed_fingers:t2::people_hugging:

1145 days no alcohol.
610 days no cocaine.
125 days no vape.

I did finally manage to shower on Thursday :raised_hands:t2: and get to the course on time. It was session 3 of 3, I finished my creation, and also completed a colouring design of a Sugar Skull, which I do love, but Iā€™m aware they are part of the Mexican ā€˜Day of the Deadā€™ tradition, so I worry about cultural appropriation. The environment and atmosphere on the course was so peaceful and calming. The students doing the MacramĆ© went into a different room, and the rest of us were drawing/colouring/painting, and in our own ā€˜flowā€™ states, there were only brief, quiet bits of conversation, I really enjoyed it.

I somehow re-injured my Achilles again, whilst travelling to the course and back, so sadly I canā€™t do any walks as it needs R.I.C.E treatment, which I started yesterday evening.

Yesterday I surivived my long-anticipated dentist appointment! Thanks to many of you who posted about your experiences, I was able to not be anxious about it until I was actually in the waiting room. He didnā€™t use any anaesthetic today so there were some moments of pain, but I got through them, and overall, it wasnā€™t so bad. He prescribed another 6 months worth of special toothpaste, so Iā€™ll start using that tomorrow. Iā€™ve signed up to their private plan now that they are no longer NHS too. The dentist I see is actually really lovely, it does help the experience.

Wishing you all wonderful sober weekends.

Late night quickie. Work was alright. Bought some allergy meds, which I rarely take. Kind of helped but still sniffly. Went to my friends after work for a while bc sheā€™s been in Kentucky with her brothers. Her dog was hit by a car the day before she left. RIP :rose: Nico. As usual, stayed too late bc we could talk for hours and hours, but I have to work in the morning. Should be lame which is perfect. Goodnight.

Checking in, Day 16. Beautiful morning (very autumnal here too @Timetochange

My cold is not any worse and I slept well so hopeful it is going to go away soon. I have been trying my hardest to practice self care and work with my body to heal (you know, instead of previous tactics which were to drink until I felt temporarily better, but long term much worse :unamused:)

Football match today, then a free day. Was hoping to go out to dinner tonight with my husband. We still havenā€™t really celebrated our WA, so it would be nice to check in with each other.

Have a really good day all

Last day of my holidays. I canā€™t say I feel totally rested, the last week has been too intense for that. I sure have been away from work so I feel ready for that. Tomorrow. Going to enjoy today sober and clean. I hope and expect you will too friends. Love.

Pic is from an old guesthouse in Utrecht, a nightstop on the road to Santiago de Compostela, and the little statue is a pilgrim. Weā€™re all together on our own roads.

Yep, drinkers are either queuing to put liquid in or queuing to let liquid out - alcohol free music appreciation is definitely superior!

Day 1145

Recently I have felt the beginnings of a sense of peace about my self as a person. I have always felt a pressure to put on a front to be the kind of person I want to be, i.e. cool, social, and I often used alcohol to try to manifest those things. It didnā€™t work, often had the opposite affect, but I think part of me was hoping that when I quit drinking I would become a bit like that. But recently in a few situations I have noticed myself actively acknowledging, oh, actually I prefer to do this quiet thing, or oh, that was awkward, but I am a bit awkward right. It is baby steps, but I hope I can continue to grow in this way.

Hi, Iā€™m Steve. This is my first time posting here. Iā€™ve had a million day 1s. I rarely make it more than a few days without drinking though. Going to try to make this one stick.
