Checking in daily to maintain focus #62

Checking in. Having a hard day. Sometimes I wish I could turn my brain off. This reminds me of why drinking was helpfull, it numed everything or I cried it out snapping like the crazy person I am. Im not going to drink, no cravings. Only wish I could numb everything out

Well, I donā€™t usually do longer hikes so I have no experience in preparing for them :upside_down_face:. But this time I plan to take hikes gradually increasing length and difficulty, run on hills (luckily there are several of them in the neighborhood), run fartleks, do self-weight exercises focusing on thighs, back and shoulders, eat nutritiously and sleep well. I have a year to do so, so I hope I will be able to improve even counting in the setbacks and possible breaks due to mental health issues and such. I also have to prepare with the lightest gear possible and plan the route, etc., but that will be fun to do.

@jules000 YES ā€“ that is awesome news girl.
@jennyh How are you doing love? Been way to long since weā€™ve seen you ā€“ hope you are doing well. :hugs:
@goku2019 60 degrees Oh I canā€™t wait ā€“ I do understand that it could be cold when you are not used to temps so low. I am grateful that you dismissed those crazy thoughts ā€“ moderation or not ā€“ we no longer willingly poison ourselves. Great work on 821 days my friend. :muscle:
@soberwalker Oh Iā€™m so sorry Claudia. I do hope she heals quickly and isnā€™t in too much pain. I saw that she wasnā€™t able to pick out a kitty because of her accident. Hoping she will get to get her companion soon enough. So grateful that your boys stepped up and helped (love family support).
@ofmiceandroach congrats on your double digits! Lovely morning anthem :muscle:
@suzrene Oh Iā€™m sorry Suzanne ā€“ it does suck when your friends relapse and you do need to make that healthy boundary for yourself. Great work on protecting your sobriety. We can only be responsible for our own actions. Here if you need to vent or talk. :hugs:
@tetrax Congrats on your 1 week milestone! Keep that momentum going strong :muscle:
@IamThechange and @doreen1 great work on your sober times ā€“ the blah feeling is a bitch. Sending you strength to find the positivity in your surroundings. I am with you in this fight ā€“ trying to listen to upbeat music and watch comedy and look at beautiful pictures to keep the negativity away.

@wakikki UGH I am so sorry friend. I do know the desire to numb yourself and shut down. No good will come from it and it would only be temporary. I hope that you can scream, cry and shout out your frustrations. I have been punching some pillow cushions too. Here for you ā€“ I do hope that you are able to find peace and calmness in your day :people_hugging:

Oh how exciting ā€” super happy for you and loving all your amazing timers. :hugs:

Checking in on Tuesday morningā€¦
I am making an effort stay away from the bed today. I did get in my steps last night but ended up causing severe inflammation so i will be taking it slowly today. Just frustrated with the progress but i do know it will take time and i just need to find that patience. Working on staying positive and clear headed.

Wishing you all a wonderful addiction free day - stay warm and safe my sober warriors.
Sending you all so much love

Im just so drained in every way, I dont know how I can feel rested and in harmoni, or even how to fill up with energyā€¦

Whats your goal in steps in a day? Sorry about the inflammation, hope it goes back real soon, you got it from pushing yourself?

Iā€™m so sorry loveā€¦that is so frustrating. I do know the drained feelingā€¦had spent the last few days in bed. Finally made myself move as I was going crazy and yeah the movement caused the already flared inflammation to get worse.

I have set goal to 7500 steps a day but pushed to 10k last night ā€¦the problem was I keep thinking of what my past abilities and not my now abilities.

Sending you loads of love. .hope you are able to rest and recharge. :people_hugging:

Day 699 over here and its a day off. My first step was to finish reading The Big Book. I started it in October and finished it today. Now Iā€™ll need another quit lit tome. Second stop today is the library where I will stock up on books, pick up my sister and take her to lunch.

Home after that to give my husband the car. We fought last night, attitude (my part) and alcohol (his part) related but I really canā€™t seem to give a f@ck about that. I can only forge my own path. Who else is eagerly waiting to discover that he did not put gas in our 17year old car like I asked him to before parking that fantastic old car in negative temperatures last night?

I will enjoy a day off full of minor activity and lots of rest. Drinking solves nothing. Onward!

Grateful, sober, frozen

Healing can be slow, exhausting, and painful. Since my brain hasnā€™t developed any healthy coping mechanisms, my anxiety and OCD are running rampant. Iā€™m also noticing the impact of a shoulder injury from a drunken fall a while ago. Amazing how much I missed when I was numbing everything. Now Iā€™m on the right path. Removing substances makes true healing and growth possible. Iā€™m grateful to be here today and to know Iā€™m not alone!

Struggling lately with my mental health. Have stayed in bed today so far and just feel rotten. Hoping for improvement soon but really unmotivated right at this moment. Just holding on through this, but I know I need to address this.

Rosa, rest up today. Some days are just shit and you have to put a line through it. Do what you need to do to get through and start again tomorrow.

Be gentle on yourself :heavy_heart_exclamation:

1254 days no alcohol.
719 days no cocaine.
234 days no vape.
2 days no binge-eating.

Had a bath. Caught the bus into the city centre for my therapy appointment checked-in and went upstairs to wait, after waiting for 30mins after my appointment time, I went downstairs to ask if my appointment was still going ahead, they didnā€™t know, so I went back upstairs and sent the psychologist a text. Then someone came up to tell me she wasnā€™t in, and that she wouldnā€™t be back for atleast 2 weeks, but sheā€™d be in touch when she was back. It would have been good to have received some communication, but atleast it got me to have a bath, and got me out of the flat.

Caught the bus home, went to the shopping centre, bought my SIL and first niece another gift each, got a baby card and some wrapping paper. Baby niece has jaundice so is being monitored closely by the hospital, but she is feeding better now so hopefully she wonā€™t need treatment, they also decided on her name today and itā€™s the one I liked. I will hopefully be going to meet her this weekend.
