Day #24 sober from my DOC
Day #5 sober from everything else

Currently just fixing a bunch of bugs in production that I accidentally made lol. Having a meeting with my addiction therapist later today. I had some good conversations with my CA fellowship group last night about how to practice not being arrogant with my sobriety which is helping :smile_cat:

Have a great day everyone

When does the insomnia end? :flushed: Itā€™s like torture. Having a very rough day.

Day 4 free from booze! Iā€™m maintaining focus and starting to get a ā€œnormalā€ routine down. Itā€™s amazing how open not only my mind has become but also my heart and soul. Easy wins are big wins. One step at a time. :muscle:t5::purple_heart:

Checking in. Taking a quick break at work. I have a long day scheduled and, so far, itā€™s been ā€œinteresting.ā€ Hopefully the rest of the day is a little more normal. I have been making a conscious effort to think more positively and turn my thoughts around before the negative thoughts get out of control. Im feeling less anxious and more in control. I think im making progress. I also realized today that Iā€™ve been vape free for over a month.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

When I drank I was a persistent evening drinker and heavy with it. When I stopped drinking I had no real symptoms apart from chronic insomnia and that always lasted about a week. When I was last properly sober for over a year it evened out quickly and I started to sleep well. I have to work really hard at sleep, it doesnā€™t come very easily now to me even with not drinking. My experience is better and worse periods. Routine being the only must. That and working out and consistent bed times. Nice things to add are: sleep tea, pillow spray, black out blinds, a cool room, meditation and a comfortable bed. However, this doesnā€™t always work either.

Good luck. I hate being tired, itā€™s the worst.

Oh, and donā€™t get kittens :joy::joy::joy:

Thank you TragicF. Itā€™s true, sometimes nothing helps, but sometimes it does. I appreciate every tip you listed as I need to write down every idea I get from my friends here. I donā€™t think I can eliminate insomnia this early but I can reduce it until it goes away completely. Thank you! Iā€™m a mess today

No kittens! I was just trying to imagine what it would be like if I were babysitting your two today. Hehe

It took me awhile before I was sleeping longer or more normally. When I was about 60 to 70 days was when I began to sleep longer and sometimes sleep for a full 6 to 8 hours straight. Never thought Iā€™d get out of the early sleepless cycle but eventually my body readjusted. Hang in there!

Thank you, Petr for sharing your experience. It does feel never-ending. When you donā€™t sleep the days are much longer. Really appreciate hearing that it gets better with time, thanks!

Day 30 :white_check_mark:

I had a lovely conversation with a good friend today while Polly was at the groomers.
It was lovely, and Iā€™m grateful for them :people_hugging: very much.

The sunā€™s out, brings out some cravings but Iā€™m staying sober. Been bit more tempted today then others - I just told my self I donā€™t really want a drink. Even if I was a ā€˜normalā€™ drinker I wouldnā€™t want a drink now anyway. And I knew those feelings will pass, and come again and pass again and il be fine through it all.
As long as I donā€™t pick up il be fine. It felt safe telling myself that no matter how many cravings and strong thoughts I have, they mean nothing so I wonā€™t give them power, they will pass and il be okay they canā€™t harm me but I have to feel them. The only way they become harmful is if I act on them.

Exhausted and hungry ready for pyjamas and movies :clapper::popcorn:

@hillbillychris I have noticed many of us get the itch to drink and our urges gets super strong as our milestones come closer. Not sure if it is our minds thinking that we made it this far and we are ok or if itā€™s a reward system or??? - I have had to be more vigilant around my big milestones and keep in mind that any doubts of my path are just my addiction trying to get a leg up.
@goku2019 WOOT WOOT ā€“ look at you go 2.5 + years and going strong. Great work friend :tada:
@joyce19 OMG Joyce Iā€™m so sorry that you are having to work through dealing with shingles. Does your employer know the extent of your symptoms? Sending you comfort and hugs friend ā€“ great work on day 5!
@acromouse LOL ā€“ glad you looked into the TENS unit. I only learned about it a few years ago when I fractured my sternum and used this during PT. It did help so I decided to buy one and have at home. I had forgotten about it and grateful that I was able to start using. It does pack a punch with its pulses LOL. Hope you have a wonderful coffee date with your friend today.
@mrsodh Very cool and interesting. Yeah trunk or treating has really taken off here ā€“ even more so since Covid and it seems more kids are doing this rather than the actual door to door trick or treating. I was sad to have had no kids at Halloween last year LOL. Hope it all goes well for you Sophia.
@mno and @jennyh sending you both some loving positive vibes my friends. Hope your days take a turn for the better. Hope you have a wonderful peaceful Thursday.
@lighter you are handling this so well my friend. Yes Insomnia is a bitch and can be discouraging in recovery as we do need sleep to heal. Keep at it ā€“ it will come. Keep fighting for yourself and working your recovery Marie :hugs:
@tragicfarinelli Oh I too used to be very much into numbers so totally get this. Today you are kicking ass in sobriety and healing in everyway possible. Be gentle with yourself TF. Hope you are able to just rest and be with your panthers. In less than 24 hours you will have stacked on another day and onto a whole new number. You are stronger than you thinkā€¦ we are right here with you :hugs:
@charlie_c hoping all went well with your wifeā€™s surgery. The waiting can be taxing ā€“ wishing her a quick and painless recovery.

@lile01 Damn him ā€“ Iā€™m sorry love. Good riddenā€™s I say ā€“ glad you found out what he was about and like now and can cut him out of your life. Great job on coming here to vent and let out your frustrations and anger. It is ok to cry and get mad. Glad you are not thinking to drink as that has no good solutions.
@laner Yes to your 2 weeks ā€“ impressive work :muscle: The dreams or shall I say nightmares can be so damn realistic and daunting. Hope you are able to sleep peacefully tonight. Sending you healing vibes so you can get well soon.
@shel75 congrats on your 1+ months of being vape free! Great job on changing your thinking towards positive thinking. Hope it works well for you today :hugs:
@twizzlers WOOT WOOT 1 month girl :tada: :tada: Way to talk yourself out of your cravings todayā€¦ impressive work! Hope you enjoy your movies (what are you watching tonight?)

Happy Thursday you lovely people
Got a bit done with follow up phone calls and more doctorā€™s appointments scheduled. It is a bit cool today and i like it ā€“ not too hot and not too cold yet the spring feel is in the air.
Have a doctors appointment in an hour so going to get ready now ā€“ will chat with you all later
Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day / evening - sending you all so much love

Thank you Jasmine. Even though I remember being reassured by you and others in the past that it gets better, hearing it again today is much appreciated. It plays with my head when Iā€™m in it. Iā€™m going to distract with a binge watch while doing light stuff around the house, and get a little exercise in if I can. My only goal that would make today 100% successful is not to drink. 7 weeks
