4th 12 hour night shift in a row tonight. Hopefully this is it but may be back in tomorrow night also, we’ll see I guess.
Definitely running a bit on fumes. Cramped being in that little machine for 12 hours straight each night. Living on 5 hours sleep per night is a bit foreign to me
Finished the first virtual challenge of the year. I gifted myself a whole bunch of virtual challenges to kick-start a better exercise habit. Love the medal
And can you believe, I really managed my personal January challenge of checking in here every day? I will go back to checking in less frequently… when I really have something to say… which isn’t that often.
And what am I glad it’s the last day of dry January, too! Tomorrow I can finally shower again
Thanks I’ve had a bit of a bounce back, able to do more and do some training so things are on the improve.
I think maybe a lot of you northern hemisphere people might be in the midst of seasonal affective disorder, plus obviously being sick doesn’t help
Checking in day 32. Slept badly last night and had a headache and felt rubbish all day! Bit worried my hyperthyroid has come back as that really messes my sleep up, but hopefully it was just a one off! At the moment I’m in a place of not really wanting to do anything, but then feeling bored cause I’m not doing anything . Got a few social things planned next week which part of me doesn’t even want to do, which I feel bad about, but feel like I’m forcing myself. It’s like I’ve got no motivation or excitement to do anything now I’ve stopped drinking, as usually all these social things would be paired with drinking. It’s kind of sad to say that but it’s true. I’ve no desire to drink though, but just no desire to do anything else either! I’m sure this will pass with time. Maybe it’s my dopamine resetting of something (sure I read something about this somewhere). Happy Friday everyone .
Thats super cool!!! Congratulations on ur virtual challenge! Interestingly enough, I also do virtual challenges and im doing Route 66 right now. Its been over a year that ive been working on it lol They are fun tho! And great motivation!
Second check in today. Had a horrible migraine most of the day, but I just took every possible holistic measure. Midwest weather and migraines are not the best of friends lol I still (slowly) got my few things done. Took a little nap. Can finally see and at least listen to a good audio book or playlist so I’m okay. To all my friends fighting these crazy head/chest colds I hope you all get better soon. This year seems to be a rough one. Colds are worse and lasting longer for a lot of people I know (including myself) Healing vibes your way. Love you all. 🩷:purple_heart:
Checking in on day 36
Had a very busy day at work . Then a very long drive home thanks to the snow. A drive that should have been 20 minutes turned into 90 minutes. Very glad to be home now. Looking forward to relaxing now . @james83 Im very sorry to hear about your loss @Catfishin-fool Congats on 1 week sober @sober26 congrats on 30 days @SoberOskar congrats on 5 days @CR84 love the new ink. Great way to remember your brother @SelfLove_42 congrats on 100 days @Rockstar24777 sorry to hear you were having such a mentally tough day yesterday but good to hear your in a bit of a better headspace today @Mischa84 hope you feel better soon.
Have a great sober night everyone
@joyce19 Weightlifting is a great way to calm the cravings also a great way to build those sober and physical muscles 33 days and going strong! @mira_d Sending you calming and comforting energy. Pmsing, feeling sick and dealing with kids / work is insane. You are juggling a lot and should give yourself a mental break. Sorry for the overload. Hope you know that you are not a bad mother and do hope you get some time for yourself to unwind @chevy55 OOF you have a lot of long shifts and I’m sure the cold weather does not allow you to relax during them (I know my body is tense in the cold). Cramped machine and 5 hour nights too? Do hope you get some time off for yourself. Be well my friend. @hotic WOOT WOOT! Quadruple 2’s is amazing – keep up with those amazing days @pamela 32 days is impressive work ad don’t worry the desire to get back into doing things will return. It takes a while for our bodies and minds to reset and soon you will even be able to do things that you only associated with drinking (which most likely was everything in life if you were like me) and you will won’t miss the drinking aspect. Keep working your recovery – it truly does get easier.
427 days
Geocaching was a hit @Just_Laura@acromouse we jumped on the bikes and was joined by one of the kids friends and their dad and managed to do a loop that encompassed 5 hidden caches. Was a great way to get out and about. We even then jumped in the car and went and got an ice cream from a local shop that had a cache in the carpark haha
Day 1083
Busy day for me and my son. He had the day off of school so we went and picked out new glasses for him. Then home to bake peanut butter chocolate chip cookies from scratch They turned out real nice!!! Hubby came home with 2 new fish for our tank and then fixed my sons ps4 cuz it wasnt reading discs at all. That all went well. But my hubby and I havent even eaten supper yet and its 830pm. Still have a few things to do yet before the night is over. I get to stay home from work tomorrow as he is tattooing someone, so thats a nice break for me. Then work on Sunday. Super simple weekend. Feeling okayish today
@Pamela I get the way you’re feeling. I used to feel like I had to leave my house and do something every single day (as long as the first stop was the liquor store), but now feel more content staying home. Boredom was a major trigger for me, but now I’m just used to it
@MrFantastik Sounds like a fun time! I’m definitely going to look into it and see what’s nearby (and hopefully remember 2 months from now when the snow’s gone ).
716
Heh, I live in the 716 Today was surprisingly nice. I felt great when I woke up and had energy. I got all my end of month bills payed and had enough to unpause my Prime subscription. I’m glad I discovered that’s an option It’s always renewed on Jan 6th and always stressed me out bc I’m already hurting from being laid off. This way made sure I could pay for necessities before entertainment.
The ex came over after school and I finished prepping things for work tomorrow, which I’m 50/50 about. I’ve been really enjoying this relaxing time at home, but I also feel like I need some routine back. Hoping for an easy first shift, but I already know it will be. Saturday lunches are dead in the summer, so I’m not expecting anyone to show up on a 17° day in February. Hope you all have a wonderful 24 hours ahead
Today, I woke up at 6:30 AM and attended an early morning online AA meeting. After that, I went back to sleep for another two hours.
Now, after completing my daily morning routine, I’ve had my breakfast and am about to start work.
Hope you’re all doing well!
@Joyce19 Congrats on your Day 33! Cravings are quite common and temporary—distraction is the key. Remember, it’s our mind and thoughts that create the cravings. Take it one day at a time—you’ve got this!
@Hotic True to your name, those digits are hot! 2222
Glad I got out yesterday, did a good walk, and caught a good deal of sunshine. Walked to Ruigoord, a squatted little village in the middle of the industrial port of Amsterdam. About as middle of nowhere as it gets here. Didn’t make it quite home on foot, happy there’s trains and subways and trams.
Had an excellent night -physical tiredness always does that for me, less dreams and good deep sleep- and now I’m ready for my last weekend working in Utrecht. Let’s make today as good a day as we can friends. Sober and clean to begin with or nothing will come of it. Pic is for @acromouse as she loves ships and scrap (schepen en schroot), and for you all of course. Love from the port.
