@1in8billion I attend Recovery Dharma meetings. They are based on buddhist practices but are not necesserily buddhist. I started looking into AA in the beginning, but found it difficult to get into. Then I searched buddhist recovery programms and found RD.
Attendance usually depends on the time of the day and if there is a focus group. That can be from a handfull to over 100. I attend online meetings, and you can participate anywhere from just listening, to facilitating yourself. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.
The usual structure of a meeting is like that: Preamble and introductions, a guided or sometimes silent meditation, a reading pertaining to recover and/or buddhist practices, sharing, closing and afterwards social time.
I really love this approach, especialy its basic idea of empowerment, enabling your personal ressources, and community. The specific group I am attending right now is the Westcoast Winddown. But I also have attended others, and they were all very welcoming and helpful in my recovery and dealing with life in general.
There is a list of all meetings on the Recovery Dharma site. Check them out, join one. See if it’s a good fit if you are interested.
@mrfantastik I imagine with the nature you have around you, the are many interesting trail caches.
@tragicfarinelli Enjoy the great weather. I hope your application gets through and you’ll find a job you enjoy.
@joyce19 Sorry to hear your difficult family is bothering you. Especially if what they mostly care for is verbally abusing you. Glad you are with us, sharing and moving on. Take espacially good care of you today.
@AEGFletcher Congrats on your run! Also congrats of a peacefully spent Saturday evening without the threat of relapse.
@goku I am so very sorry to hear you are having such a hard time right now. My partner and I separated at the beginning of last year. It was a very difficult time emotionally. But I always knew that my sobriety was more important than anything else. That nothing would improve if I used. That it would just get worse.
What helped was: individual therapy, couple’s counseling, lots of talk with friends, lots of meditation and mindfulness training. Recognising our old patterns, learning new ones. We are not done. My partner is currently in a clinic for six weeks. We keep working on ourselves and our marriage. The work never stops. But our capacity to deal with life gets better. Sending love and patience your way :ocean:
@mno Enjoy your last day of work in the old place. Say your goodbyes. Appreciate the good stuff. Best of luck with the new job!
@handoferis I am so sorry to hear you’ve had some stupid rando bother you on the net. That always sucks. With all the added stress in your life no wonder the waterworks turned on. Do something nice and caring for yourself. You are a very smart and insightful person. Your posts show that. Don’t anyone else tell you otherwise
@just_laura I really like the “trying to want” thought. It took me a long time to get to that point, where I would actually stop fantasising and start wanting. Wanting always includes being willing to change things yourself, instead of waiting for things to change by magic. Love your rants by the way
@jazzyS Glad to hear you had nice company yesterday. Staying connected and not being isolated is a big one with chronic illness. Lots of love our way

Slept in as it is Sunday, and came late to my meeting. Enjoyed the shares and the social time.
Today it’s time for my weekly review. I also want to enjoy a bit of the sun on the balcony, and finally get rid of the christmas tree. I am more than halfway through with disassembling it. Instead of a workout I will take a shower, which is usually so exhausting with my condition it counts as a workout for me.

Today’s picture is of how a loaf of bread should look like

Peace and love always :lotus:

Yea im seeing trails that we’ve hiked before with a whole series of caches along them Sometimes the kids get bored and tired on the hikes we go on, i reckon this will keep them entertained and motivated. My daughter today thought this was an awesome adventure, even though we almost stood on a wasp nest. Told her best not to tell mum about that one haha

Better keep that one between you and your kid
I remember doing a long chain of caches along a bike route. It was lots of fun and there was a bonus at the end if you found all of them.

I dont have any one answer for you but I can tell you that between my wife and I we have brought up divorce in the past. Ive even gotten the papers because of certain arguments, and times when it seemed like the only way out. Its normal to have bad days, weeks, months, or even years in a relationship. I dont know your relationship first hand but I can tell youbthat everyone is better off with you here. Sending love your way brother!

All Recovery Dharma meetings are free.
As to the bread, I am not really sure. I think it was some kind of sourdough rye bread.

Checking in on Day 38.
I’ve also now gone 1 day sugar free.

The amount of sugar I’ve been eating so far in sobriety will have me the size of a house or diabetic in no time ( possibly both ).So I’m challenging myself to a sugar free February. I want to be healthy as well as sober . No work today but of course lots to do here around the house . Gonna start my day off with a quick trip outside to the cold with my fuzzy bed warmer Mr Stubbs , coffee then some time on the treadmill. Housework & groceries will also be happening and I’ll probably unintentionally annoy my teenager at some point . Nothing else much planned ( my life is pretty boring) . Have a safe and sober Sunday everyone.

Checking in. Day 8 AF, 11 weed free. I slept okay, but I’m so depressed that I got out of bed around 12:30pm. I guess my mind and body just needs more rest than usual, so I try not to feel guilty about it. I got no plans for today, I’m just gonna chill at home and read a book. Have a wonderful sober 24!

Day 394,

OT shift was callled off last night at 4:30pm. Talk about letting us wait entire day prepping and planning for work. Plus was all Double OT….

Was told to stay home Monday day shift and report in Monday night for night shift… but that could be cancelled today at some point. We’ll see.

Regardless, happy to be up early this morning, albeit a bit groggy  and hitting the gym. Been a week since I’ve gotten down there and miss it greatly. If off tomorrow during day as it stands I’ll try and sleep in a bit and hit gym again tomorrow before shift.

It’s currently -27C so a good day to stay in though it’s a beautiful clear day. Played ball with dogs yesterday and there chuck it shattered… too cold for plastic. Drat!!

Enjoy your sober Sunday folks.

Checking in day 882. Was just thinking about how I hope some of our dry January soldiers stuck around and are still here. I did a few 30 day trial runs before getting sober, and hope others know they can do it too.

Things are going alright on my end! Ready for winter to come to an end- seems my area is out of the super super cold (for now- hopefully for good). A few moving pieces still in place to get my business going, mostly a waiting game for approvals- still cracking away at the 9 to 5 in the meantime.

Hope everyone has a super sober Sunday :sparkles:

Day 1,695 clean and sober today. I forget sometimes that waves of depression come sometimes and it’s not necessarily what’s happening in my life but more of a chemical problem. The most important thing is that they always pass. I think I was caught in one of those this past week and didn’t realize that that’s what was happening. I have found that I absolutely abhor dating apps and they are really not good for my self esteem or mental health so I decided to delete my account. I feel a lot better just by doing that! I am going to strive instead to enjoy every moment of this one life I have and make a gratitude list of all the good things there are about being single to help change my mindset and perspective  Have an amazing day everyone, love you guys! :sunglasses::metal:t2:

Good morning, today is 5 months no alcohol for me. Had a drinking dream last night and I was so disappointed in the dream that I drank. Woke up relieved it wasn’t real. Have a great Sunday everyone. Love all of these check in’s.

Checking in on day 28. Almost to that tasty and terrifying 30 days. I have suddenly started fighting with urges (I’ve been doing surprisingly well so I’m not surprised) I also fell out of routine. Raw dogging adhd and bipolar is no joke sober :joy: (that’s dark humor kids lol) Anywho time to caffeinate and read before I knock out this workout. Overall feeling good. Got my killer sober playlist going (if you like Emo/metal, it’s my only public playlist on Spotify) Today will be good. It has to be :joy: Love you all 🩷:purple_heart:🩷

@Catmama23 I completely get the feeling you were experiencing last year. I was the same. Like I didn’t want to die but just didn’t want to be here disappointing everyone including myself. I just got my 28 days this morning as well. I’m glad your headache is subsiding. Take care of yourself. Maybe try some 5/10 min meditation (I prefer guided bc adhd but you can just wing it lol) I had a killer migraine and the only thing that would soothe it enough to function was regular meditation sessions. I think it’s probably the increase in oxygen (similar to oxygen therapy) love and light friend✨

@s_unrelax Over a week!! enjoy the beautiful things around you when you get restless. Sounds like you are without realizing it. If you kind of focus in for a second on something (birds chirping for example) for maybe 3-5 minutes it can ease your brain and kind of reprogram it away from the restlessness. Happy Sunday :muscle:@gvlnative very inspiring and thought provoking…LOVE IT🩷

@JazzyS AMAZING NUMBERS!! My inspiration lol Happy you got some chill time in with your brother. My living situation keeps me in my room a lot (moved in with mom to help after losing my dad then brother) So I totally get it. Glad you’re feeling better as well. We’re about to feel another Midwest round. 20-60-40-50 type weather (in one week for those who don’t know lol) @just_laura 717 days is awesome!!! That’s probably about how many I could combine in the last decade. Crazy thought right?!? You and the others with these kinds of numbers are truly inspiring THANK YOU (and sooooooo many others) Oh and my finally ex did that same crap. Ugh. And popcorn and pizza buttons need to not exist.

@handoferis They are anonymous because they are unaccountable. Be proud of yourself. Astrology isn’t stupid. Nor is any other hobby and/belief. Basically what I’m saying is keep being yourself and sounds like you have a great group of friends to remind you as well. Sorry but I get angry when I hear stuff like this. I was never that kid in school and I’m sure as hell not like that as an adult. Sorry for the rant🩷

@GOKU2019 First things first… that number though!! I wish there was anything I could say or do to relieve your pain, but also remember everything happens for a reason. It could be the season finale or series (as it relates to our relationship) unfortunately we just have to listen to our gut/heart along the way. I learned this after leaving my husband of 15 years. Love and light my friend✨

@AEGFletcher Nice job! And sounds like you made the right choice.🩷

@Joyce19 keep looking out for 1 (you):muscle:

@mybeautifullife I’ve been in that exact spot. Like I’m terrified of 30. I’m too good at making excuses for myself but not this time💪
