Checking in daily to maintain focus #77

Welcome Audrey. Good on you for sticking with it. I was in a constant cycle of relapse before I started posting daily, initially, on here. Sometimes multiple times a day.
You’ve clicked the post button at the end of someone else’s post which has “replied” to their post. If you look just under the last post in the thread there is a blue arrow/post button, use that for your own post to the thread.
Stay around, you’ll get the hang of it quickly

Great post. I found a glow worm once and it was shattering in beauty. Take signals as guides and keep climbing. Don’t look down :backhand_index_pointing_down:t2:

Checking in 470 something. Had a bucks weekend last weekend and everyone was really interested in my sobriety and not a single person laughed or tried to get me to drink a beer. Heaps of them spoke of their alcohol intake with a few saying they’re doing dry July.
Good stuff.
Hope everyone is well

Sobriety streak still going
No alcohol
No marijuana
Day 0 no coffee no energy drinks

Omg I drank a cup of coffee and got super sick
Not a good way to start the day
I was drinking 1 cup a day for a while but it’s getting me sick lately
So now I’m going to really push myself to 0 cups of coffee and 0 energy drinks. I think if j need a boost I’ll get to work and have tea .so tomorrow morning I’ll wake up and have 0 caffeine be4 I get to work. I love ice tea lately so I’ll stick with that

Day 2- just finished reading my Bible and heading out to the gym. Thinking about trying 75 Hard as a way to get me motivated and something other than just sobriety to work towards.

Welcome Audrey! :waving_hand: :slightly_smiling_face:

To make a topic (a thread) of your own, go back to the main list of threads (tap the blue circle at top left), then tap the “create a topic” button (the pencil-with-notepad icon at the top right). (See my screenshot below.) Then you give your thread a title and off you go!

Welcome to Talking Sober. You can do it. I personally found it was very helpful to connect with other people in recovery. I learned from them in podcasts and books, and I joined recovery groups, and I got a sponsor. (There’s a list of resources for this here: Resources for our recovery.) With the learning and daily simple effort, and with the daily accountability (I leave my sponsor a voicemail every day), I am gaining confidence and I am finding my sober feet.

So grateful that you did share and I was able to read your thoughts. What a lovely way to start off a new year :people_hugging:. I do miss fireflies. I used to see that all over every night when I was growing up and now I’m lucky if I see a few a year. Climbing? I absolutely love this for you. Great work on conquering your fears :flexed_biceps:t4:
@Butterflymoonwoman I love going to sleep already excited for the next day .
Especially when it involves coffee :joy:. Glad you took the day for yourself..
Sounds like you were the Energizer bunny. Sure did get a lot accomplished
@TatteredLace welcome to the community Audrey. Well done on continuing the meetings and your day 4. This community is what helped me keep at it with my sobriety. Read around - loads of great support and love here. You can go to the bottom of any thread and click on the big arrow button right to add to the thread. Hope to see you around ODAAT :folded_hands:t4::flexed_biceps:t4:
@seb please don’t apologize for your post. It’s not negative but honest. You are dealing with a lot and it would be crazy to think you would be all wonderful with the anticipation of the surgery and the recovery ahead. Hope it helps talking about it and getting Infront of the fears. You are not alone my friend. I know you will be back to your lovely active lifestyle and hitting the gym like you want in no time. Sending love your way :people_hugging:

Checking in on Monday morning :hugs:
Not a whole lot going on. Hopefully will enjoy my morning coffee and book while I decide how my day plays out.

Wishing everyone a wonderful addiction free day… sending you all so much love :heart:

Checking in back to day 11
I threw away my sober time for a few tall cans of Pabst was it worth absolutely not and I’m going to keep it real the only time I’ve felt any type of mental sadness was the day after drinking doesn’t matter if it was 1 or 20 as a alcoholic I would drink so much I would use my face to break my fall on the regular but that didn’t hurt as much as that sadness and of course when I let the ones rooting for me down (my apologies by the way) but when I fall down I’ve always gotten up which is great but the real point is to not fall it’s to stay up and not quit when say quit I mean to give into drinking because it’s absolutely not worth it. So here’s to staying up and not quitting also remember to always stay Positive and keep smiling even on those bad days. Peace to All

  1. So tired today, even after 9 hours sleep. I was asleep by like 9.30pm . Feeling in a really funky mood, I’ve had two nights of the most horrendous nightmares and anxiety dreams, waking drenched in sweat and feeling odd. Anyway, it will be ok. Today is always a sad day, the anniversary of the 7/7 London bombings. I will never forget that day, after just getting off the train myself and ending up stuck near Heathrow airport with no transport and every fear in the world in my mouth and heart. My phone signal was jammed so I was without any communication or knowledge or news. It was only that day that I was late so didn’t use my normal route through Edgware Road. I will forever be grateful for that. My brother in law is a survivor of the attacks and so it’s even closer to home in our household. 20 years have passed by and we are still no closer to peace. On many levels and in many respects. Spare a thought for all those lost. :folded_hands:t2:

Checking in from rainy Central Texas. My city made the news for flooding, but no lives were lost. Feeling sad for the 80+ people who were lost in the floods, and all who love them.

Flooding here is the biggest danger. I tried to get out a bit yesterday, but rain started and I just didn’t feel comfortable hydroplaning around. Looking a bit better today- peeks of sun. So ready to get out!

Bit of dental agony from chomping on my favourite foods on the weekend…grrr. Waiting on my mouthguard. Trying to calm the jaw pain down. No chew today. I can’t have a root canal this week. Frozen peas, then hot rice in a sock. I’ll be ok by Wednesday. I will drive far away!

So glad you’re here. We’re getting through so much sober together.

I think I’ll take it easy. Why pack 2 days early? I started to yesterday but I’m already pulling stuff out of the suitcase

Love you guys
