Checking in on day 42… It’s payday so it’s always a special tricky. I just remind myself that a guitar pedal provides a lifetime of sweet noise while a pill lasts maybe an hour. I expect to start saving my addiction money eventually… right now, though, music and cars are where I put it all lol. 2 Weeks til the new (2nd) amp will be obtained (5150 Stealth since we have an iconic)

@butterflywoman I am so glad the power was restored without any major results.

@mxelle when you said you get “freaked out at living sober and being too aware” You stated the exact reason to keep going. You got this. Work breathing exercises they helped me the most with quitting green. Light and Love friend

@mtrav0040 I am so glad to see that you and your kiddo are well with all the changes (all things considered)

@mno Yay gut cleaning day!!! :rofl

@axsis 6 YEARS! Holy inspiration… Thank you

@jallyson I am so gd proud of you for coming right back… I’m just a message away if you need to talk

@amelie 11 Weeks and counting! Love seeing “recovery first”

@pdebs 10 DAYS… you’re here now… that’s what matters :flexed_biceps:

Light and love all :black_heart: :star:

In my experience, self-love and self-respect: two fundamental aspects that we addicts have never quite cultivated in our lives. From this comes the willingness to embrace the unknown and see what life has in store for us. It takes some degree of courage to face life on its own terms, but honestly, every time I think about how much drinking has taken away from me and from the people I love, it’s enough to keep me practicing gratitude for any sober day I have in this life. We often play a movie in our minds, imagining that drinking might somehow play a better role in our lives, but it never did if you think about it…

I highly believe that gratitude is the game-changer in sobriety…and life in general!

Work morning check in between meetings. It’s been a packed week, with late nights and early mornings. I complain on here often about the busy schedule and lack of downtime, but when my wife is in a good mood, I have everything I need! My sister is visiting from across the country, and hasn’t seen my daughter since February. It was special seeing them play together and do the daycare drop together this morning.

I am very fortunate that the set of problems I have is an extremely wonderful one to have, and they all have purpose for the future.

Take care of yourself.

I’m 7 years sober from alcohol, your answer was a solid reminder. I’m struggling with my addiction and my self-respect, mostly. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Thank you @Dilettante @Butterflymoonwoman @JazzyS I almost forgot to block them so thank you for the reminder @Marit I found out my ex husband (still using) gave him my new number. He is literally hoping I relapse again. Not because he wants to throw it in my face or anything like that. I almost understand that dumb crap. No… he wants me to go back to being his connection for ps. I wish I could just completely cut my ex out but unfortunately I am stuck dealing with him 4 more years (my youngest turns 18 then) I changed my phone settings to screen every unknown number that I don’t have saved already. Not messing with this crap. Thank you all again for just providing a safe place to vent. :star: :black_heart:

Day 32 AF

Day 15 nicotine vape free

Day 9 marijuana free

TRIGGERED. I keep running into people from my sordid past. Dangerous to my PTSD and emotional wellbeing. I had to fight all last night not to smoke weed after seeing someone who had done a Bad Thing to me - but I treated myself to steak, The Outsiders movie, and a nice hot bath and shower. Still kicking forward. I get this defiance in my head, like, “I’m not crossing the street when I see them, they don’t control my life” and then it ultimately makes me feel worse so I think I might have to ego-check myself.

Gonna look for some positivity in the day ahead so I don’t stew.

Great job on staying clean and sobwr during such a triggering event. Proud of u!

I get like this also…

But instead of looking at it like, “Im not going to allow this person to control my actions”… u can view it as, “I am doing this to protect my sobriety at all costs”. Sometimes it not worth the headache in dealing with certain people lol

Hope ur having a better day today :slight_smile:
