Checking in daily to maintain focus #84

Day 9 sober and clean :star:

It felt soo good to wake up sober this morning I made it through a tough 1st weekend and I’m feeling so much stronger than last time I tried :flexed_biceps:

I seem to be settling into a better sleep pattern , loving my early mornings , can’t remember the last time I was up at 7am on a Sunday :joy:

I’ve been out in a solo nature walk this morning it was so lovely in the gorgeous morning sunshine .

Think I’m going to continue my painting this afternoon and puts some tunes on and just chill

Happy Sunday everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

day 3

i made it to 48 for the first time in months. i felt awful last night and i also feel weak. but i know i am strong. i spent a lot of time on walks and did some cleaning. i eventually ended up writing “stay sober” variations, some other inspo and filled up a whole sheet of paper. I think i’ll use this method often, it was very helpful. It did bring me to an old hobby with handwriting and poetry and fountain pens. For those curious - no, they sadly cannot produce the beautiful calligraphy that some pens can produce. Mine would break!

hoping to catch Zs. happy sunday everyone :heart_exclamation:

Checking in: day 43.

Just went for a short walk without crutch or kneebrace since the accident! Still a bit wobbly but I enjoy the freedom!

Today and tomorrow are going to be a challenge. Tomorrow is Kingsday, our national holiday celebrating the king’s birthday. In Den Haag the party traditionally starts the night before with lots of live music and lots of booze. And I mean, alcohol is actively promoted by supermarkets etc. And traditionally I would go out and get messed up drunk and then maybe continue the party the next day. So tonight I stay at home and tomorrow I will just check out the local market. Alcohol-free of course! And if I get cravings, I just remind myself of the massive hangovers I used to get. Never again!!

Stay safe and sober everyone :purple_heart:

Today I will be leading at my women’s meeting. It’s making me reflect on how things were when I was still drinking and how depressed I was. So glad I’m not in that place anymore and my depression is really at bay except for a few odd days. And now I have tools I didn’t have before, like coming on here and sharing, calling my sponsor or another aa friend (which I’m bad at doing and should do more of) having a plan of next indicated steps, letting go of control. And I have worked the steps and gotten rid of a lot of old thinking. In sobriety I was able to find a good therapist and that has helped a lot. I also left the job I had and it took me several years of trying things and making some mistakes, but now I have a much better job for me. It’s actually making me a little depressed to think of how depressed I was but it will go away, lol! I drank to not feel my depression. I’m in a much healthier place now. 9 years and 4 months sober. My twins were 8 when I quit and they are 18 now. I am able to be a much better mom and be present for them now. If you are new, keep going. It is really worth it to be sober. Have a great 24 hours everyone!

Checking in from the road trip day 2. I flew out to Michigan yesterday, today we are in Ohio. The introduction of my son to his uncles (they are only now aware he is trans) went very smoothly.

Regardless, no booze for me today!

Checking in on day 7

Did walk a mile yesterday. Today we went to the beach and the cold water felt really refreshing, very good for inflammation, I think. Will try to do a mile today. No plans of drinking whatsoever. I like the me who doesn’t drink the best.

We have been here two days and we already have pet turtles, tadpoles, toads, lizards and a fish. My daughter is having the time of her life! I had to draw the line at the stray cat living in our house.

Day 167

It’s been a bit cooler today, and much appreciated by my older dog. She was particularly active this morning and ran around pulling all the cushions and throws of the sofas. She looked very pleased once she’d finished.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I get training on my husband’s machines early next week and he can come home.

Wishing everyone a successful day

We are headed in. It was a belly up trip. You can’t win them all.
Nothing yesterday, and we found small shrimp today. We released them.
Self care and stretching out in my own bed is on the agenda tonight.
A beer sounds good, but the aftermath does not.
Size of gear perspective.

I’m tough enough to run this gear but king alcohol kicks my ass.
I hope you had an awesome sober Sunday!
