Checking in daily to maintain focus #84

Checking in on day 1006. A relaxed Sunday, lots of snoozing with the kitties. I’m allowed to rest and recharge my batteries. I am more at peace with resting now. I used to always feel I had to be doing something, often many things at once, to justify my existence. I can just existence though, it is enough.

@Mno I hope your finger heals soon :fu::kissing_face_with_closed_eyes:

@Butterflymoonwoman you are an amazing mum, and human. Your son is so lucky to have you. You need to be kind to yourself as well, you deserve it :heart:

@JasonFisher thats some impressive looking gear! Keep safe out there :shrimp::sign_of_the_horns:

@Violagirl I hope your husband will be able to come home soon :heart:

@NoYogaForMe congratulations on 20 days :tada::tada::tada:

Day 50 12pm

Urgh woke up groggy and with a headache.

Heavily triggering felt like a hangover thankfully it wasn’t. But definitely a good reminder that waking up sober is definitely a lot nicer.

Here’s to another 24!

Solid weekend, filled with friends and family! I’m thankful for this app and its ability to bring people from all over the world together. Just knowing I’m not alone in the struggle of addiction is a reassuring.

I’m grateful for good painting tips, for Liquid Death Dead Billionaire, and for the capacity for empathy :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand:

Day 270

Humdinger of a Saturday night. Some guy at my table was buying multiple rounds of margaritas for the whole poker room. Trying to convince me how refreshing it was. Asking for everyone to weigh in how “refreshing” their drinks were. It was wacko. I finally found my voice and said “I guess 9 out of 10 alcoholics agree that drink is refreshing.” It got a laugh.

I think my foundation remains intact. And if I process this event well, should add some structure too.

Happy 24 hours all

Just wrapping up Day 21 for me. Wow! Haven’t gone this long without alcohol since 2017. Can’t believe I’m here. Lots of La Croix and Skittles. Sending compassion to all addicts out there :yellow_heart:

Checking in day 283. Clinic wrapped for another year. So many people, each with their own stories, some victims, some volunteers. All here by grand design, karma, or by chance. Different beliefs and different levels of awareness or concern. Just a wild beautiful world. No mere coincidences, even among us here. I’m tired, I’m contented, and it shows. Sober and grateful.

Hello everyone!

DAY 242 AF
DAY 209 smoke-free

A new week begins, and it does so with a nice workout. I’ve got the first week of my new food regimen in my pocket, and I feel much lighter, even though my muscles are craving all the sugar from gluten. But they’re not going to have it, so they will have to learn to use their own resources.

This is a significant drop in calories, but I am not hungry because I basically substituted it with lean proteins, and eventually my glucose levels have settled in a way that the feeling of hunger has subsided.

I am a garden-variety type of addict, I sort of have them all to various degrees, and I definitely identify with having an ED as well. I’ve had it since I was a kid, with my body having gone through many phases and never quite landing at a balanced weight. I go up and down, but most of it comes from stress because I am never relaxed, and cortisol is the number one enemy when it comes to that, because it tells the body that we are in danger and must keep all the extra calories safe in case something happens and we need to run… that is exactly my life!!! :sweat_smile:

I’m getting better this time at allowing myself to be and letting life express itself without me having to manage every aspect of it. This year, it’s more about taking care of my vessel rather than looking better, although that would be a consequence, and I would be lying if I said I don’t care about that too.

There is always more to learn in sobriety… it never ends! :gear:

Today I am grateful for:

  • a new week
  • my safe zone
  • shadow work

Wishing everyone a solid 24 sober hours!

Last night I took the bandage off on my injured finger. It doesn’t look or feel too bad for what happened but I will need to be careful with it for the coming weeks. It’s King’s Day today. My finger’s not feeling safe enough to go and ride my bike out of town and be away from it all. I did buy new hiking shoes yesterday, so what I’ll do is go for a little hike through parts of the town not inundated with party goers from around the world, under the influence of whatever booze and drugs they will be - those will mostly be in the city centre. I’ll stay away from there.

Let’s see how my feet fare. One step at a time. I’m going to make today as good a day as I possibly can and hope you will all do the same. Sober and clean. Love from my hood.

@SolarEclipse Alcohol being refreshing. Right. It’s actually the opposite, alcohol dehydrates. Alcohol is a lot of things, but refreshing it is not. How alcohol deforms everything. This kind of pressure, well, what’s to say. Good for you not believing the hype.
@pdebs Cold water, now that IS refreshing! Although it’s not for me, a bit of a koukleum (shivery guy) here :cold_face:
@Dilettante Thanks friend :people_hugging:
@NoYogaForMe Feel good about your sobriety! You’re doing this out of love for yourself. We drink because of the opposite. Keep going, you’re doing great. ODAAT friend.
@tailee17 & @CanadianGirl & @2JTravNZ Beautiful milestones all!
@Lasse Big one tomorrow Lasse!
@BlancheDuBois Thinking of you friend. Hope you’re OK. :people_hugging:

Checking in sober 2731 days from alcohol and 8 days from caffeine.
I am craving I think. Back in the office I was desperately hoping to find some dark chocolate somewhere in the depths of my drawers. None. Stupid Franzi knew this was coming. She is evil. :face_with_spiral_eyes:
One day at a time.

  1. I’m aching nicely but feel pretty ok. Yesterday was really busy with chores and leisure equally, a nice combo. Today looks to be beautiful outside, so I’m going to put some steps in today around a job application due month end. It’s only four days till I go away on holiday: I hope this weather lasts as we have a hot tub and sauna and bikes at our holiday farmhouse. :love_you_gesture:t3:. Double gym class booked for tonight, spin and weights, which is OK because we have all food cooked and prepared until Wednesday! I prefer morning classes normally due to routine disturbance, but I’m ready to go :flexed_biceps:t3:

Day 66. Hit the gym and am waiting for my breakfast meeting. I had to check my counter to see how many days it had been… am I getting lax or am I settling in to my choice?

I got invited on a mountaineering weekend but had to turn it down… the guys going like a drink after a long day and I don’t trust myself enough. A shame, but I have to be realistic at this point.

Gorgeous day outside again… how many days like this did I miss whilst under the thumb of alcohol? Never again.

Day 10 sober & clean :star_struck:

Feeling great again this morning, ready to face whatever the day has for me .

Early night last night and I was up before my alarm again today :smiling_face:

The sun is shining and I’m feeling really well in myself at the min. It’s going to be a busy wee at work with the weather and an impending inspection lol so lots to prepare for and keep me focused.

I’ve also done 10ams now without a cigarette so that’s also huge for me. I am using a vape to curb those cravings but one thing at a time as they say lol :joy:

Happy Monday sober warriors :heart:
