Checking in: day 45.

Tiny space reorganised, new washing machine installed and I end up with more storage space then I had before. How?? Anyway, I am not complaining . Not having to do my laundry somewhere else or by hand is such a timesaver!

This afternoon I will work on preperations for group therapy that starts in a few weeks. I have the same feeling I had when starting a new schoolyear (as a teacher). I like to start fully prepared but you never know what to expect. But instead of students, parents and co-workers, it’s the other group members, therapists and the therapy itself. Somethings you just cannot prepare for. This is something that is difficult for me. I like to be in control of things. So I notice my stress and anxiety are building up. But the fact that I know this, means I can act on it.

Stay safe and sober everyone :purple_heart:

Day 148

Hey TS family!!! Been busy the past weekend and haven’t posted in a few days. Work has been keeping me busy, we are super busy which I love. I took Nitro out for the day on Sunday he made a new friend. Played for hours and was all tuckered out when we got home. Tilly my female cat is still not happy with me as yesterday she pissed on my sandals. I guess its time for new ones lol. I haven’t been sleeping much due to making sure Nitro goes out to do his business but that’s ok. Weekends are great for that. I have made a plan to go to recovery church on Saturday and Sunday nights. Then I will continue meetings every second Monday. I am doing well and have been enjoying life  have a great sober day

Six years, five months, and 23 days since my final relapse.

Im feeling a bit blue today. Newest new guy quit and another guy met at the boat. He is experienced. We will see.

My coworker who is recovering from the meth monster got a draw yesterday(cash advance) and bought some Jack Daniels.

I guess he has more lessons to learn.

It makes me feel sad. For him, for me, for the boat.

Cap was pretty miserable to be around. I get that he is stressed. So am I.

I felt mean and I wanted to lash out on him yesterday. A bridge burning lash out… but I didn’t.

Im feeling my pity pot a bit today. Poor me, pour me… if you pour me a drink i will punch you right in the face.

I have to work in the engine room today. Maintenance with Cap. Not looking forward to it.

I dont know how many shitty comments I can take without losing my shit.

Im disgusted with my coworker, and im tired of new guys…

And im not making money. Not enough to deal with all this BS.

Not gonna drink over it cuz theres no solution in that. :flexed_biceps:

Edited to add. I was able to visit the egrets yesterday and that was nice.

The constant change sounds tough to deal with man. Takes a mental toll I can imagine, but thank you for making me laugh. ā€œPour me a drink and I’ll punch you in the faceā€. I need to say that to myself.

A few days ago my oldest nephew made a comment to me about how me and his dad, my brother in law, act together. He said ā€œyou guys act like brothersā€. This helped me appreciate the relationship his dad and I have, and appreciate how amazing it is that my sister found such a great guy to build a family with. I’m thankful for every chance I get to see them, which lately has been seven days a week

I’m grateful for cooperative online multiplayer games, for some space to display important trinkets, and for the smell of honeysuckle around my home :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::call_me_hand:

  1. Tonight is a test. I’ll pass but I’m going to come and complain because you all know what it’s like. Im going to dinner with a friend through business who loves to drink. We’ve spent so many nights together all over the world for 20+ years and I have great memories. He lives on another continent and we only get together a couple of times per year. I won’t drink, but I’m angry about it because of course I want to chase that high. You all get it.

Just don’t take the first drink. It really aint worth it. Soda, lemon etc. You wont need alcohol to enjoy and let loose.

You can do it.

Tuesday lunch check-in. I’m in a blur right now. Life is lifing. I ended up with only complicated work files on the go the last couple of weeks, and it will be like this until sometime in June. Morale is low on my work team at the moment. Everyone is burnt out, and the social chatter is 5% of average. I’m doing what I can to keep the team energy positive, but also be diligent and professional.
My daughter who just turned three couple of weeks ago is lots of fun and the joy of my life, but also extra challenging many hours every day and night these days.
At a weaker time of life, right now I would coast through work, go home and drink beer, and sit on the couch browsing Reddit, or scrolling other nonsense on my phone.

Today I’m gonna continue my push through, and embrace the suck. Excuse my low-energy self-pity! Back at it we go.. :flexed_biceps:t2:

I bet being open about your sobriety will help that guy too. You can reminisce about the old days but you CAN’T relive them. Frame it like, man those were crazy times but I’m trying to be health conscious these days. I just can’t/won’t/don’t do that stuff any more.
Most importantly. Don’t drink.

Yesterday someone at work confessed they were dealing with anorexia and I got to confess that I am an addict. I don’t tell anyone at my job that. Your sobriety is your super power. Walk out clear headed with only memories of drinking.

It only takes a moment to take that drink. It gets really attractive if its in the kind of scenario you are entering.

Keep your guard up. And dont fall for the temptation. Its a trap!

We all can totally relate!
I had dinner with an old friend Saturday night, they didn’t care about me not drinking. It was actually really nice and nice to see how our friendships has evolved.

It’s ok to feel how you are feeling. I often feel the same. Like why the hell can’t I just have one drink?! Well because I can’t, so now I have my one soda or mocktail and then it’s water. Still had a great time with my friend Saturday. Hope you enjoy your time tonight.

Quick check in before hitting the hay. I felt annoyed at work over some things but stopped myself before getting heated and told it’s just work, no point ruining my day because of that. It is what it is. Acceptance brought calmness.

Day 0

Hard reset. Lost my job yesterday. This brings on more stress than we need right now. One take away from this is i know I definitely dont want to do this again.

Some tough times ahead just need to work out some things that I can and cant do financially till I have another job.

Day 11 sober and clean

Today was a bit of a curve ball to be honest . A friend at work came to me begging me to go to a concert with her as she had 2 tickets and no one to go with, all free she was even going to pay my train fair for me . I sat there for a while and thought about it and thought I could definitely do that at some point in my sober journey but today was not that day !

It’s too soon soft me , one hint of a bar and I think I’d fall like a house of cards . So I had to put my foot down and say sorry but no…

I think I did the right thing but felt a bit embarrassed that I couldn’t seize the opportunity

Did I do the right thing or have I just missed out on a good night ? :woman_facepalming:
