Checking in daily to maintain focus #86

Hi @Amelie

I’m so sorry to hear about the slip and even moreso about the bad medical news. It shows a lot of strength to get right back on and show up here owning it. You know how to do this and you’ll do it again. We’re all here behind you. Sending love and support. Message if you need to talk.

Checking in with 10 days alcohol free

We got some big storms in my town last night so I slept like a baby. I love sleeping when it’s raining. I’m definitely still sitting in shame over my relapse from 10 days ago, but I’m working to be stronger in my recovery and staying keyed into my mental health work to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. I’ve been journaling a lot to process how it happened and what can be different the next time I’m alone, which won’t happen for a few months. I am an alcoholic and relapsed won’t be a part of my journey anymore. I cannot drink like normal people drink.

I’m leaving for a weekend away later today. We’re just going to check out a new town and explore a bit. Travel is good for my soul, and I’ve been short on it this year. It should be fun.

I hope you’re all hanging in there today. Stay safe.

Checking in with 831 days sober. Life is pretty good. I’m lucky I dug myself out of the drunk pit I was drowning in.

Good evening guys. We’re going again! :flexed_biceps:

Day 131 AF.

Yesterday from getting up at 6am my head finally hit the pillow sober at midnight and the entire 18 hours was stacked with stuff to do. Prepping for camping trips is something frikkin else on the stressometer. Happy to announce we’re pitched. Phew! I’ve glugged a full litre of Pepsi on the rocks to perk up and I’m about to spark the barbie up for our evening meal. The journey here was 330 miles and should have taken just under 6 hours but there was an accident on the M5 motorway near Glastonbury which added 2 hours, then the satnav took us to the back of beyond and the van didn’t like the steep hills. :grimacing: It was smonking :grimacing:

I’ve been in a bit of a funk the past few days, probably because of a few strong triggers. The football, the weather, vacation, the pressure of packing etc. All would be reasons to crack open the tinnies or go to the pub. But…
I didn’t come this far to just come this far

I hope you all make it an awesome sober 24 and keep being the best versions of yourselves you can be. You deserve it! :green_heart:

Home for the next 8 days :victory_hand::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Day 1615 clean and sober
Day 11 free from binge/disordered eating

Struggling a bit today. Physically i am beyond fatigued. This fatigue is effecting me mentally as well. Every little thing takes soooo much effort to do. I think my weight loss med is the culprit. I may need to tweak my diet a bit or take a supplement to help or drink more water… idk. I do eat enough surprisingly (around 1800 calories) so a lack of food isnt the issue lol This med helps me stick to my deficit and helps me avoid bince eating etc. Ive thankfully lost 14lb in 7 weeks  But I also want to feel better on a daily basis too.

Bcuz i feel so tired, im also getting irritable and impatient. I apologized to my son earlier bcuz I was being cranky. Thankfully, bcuz of recovery, I am able to be more aware of my actions and behaviours. Self-awareness has increased dramatically since working the 12 steps.

Hoping today improves. I have work this weekend, so I need to prepare for that. And do my sons physio after my 1pm online meeting. Have a lovely Friday everyone!

Day 249

It’s been a good day, a surprise gift arrived from a friend - it’s nice to be thought of from over seas.

Nice lunch with my husbands family and now I’m enjoying the first night of the Proms.

All so much better for being sober.

@Marieke ages ago you suggested I try seabuckthorn, it’s cracking. Thanks for telling me about it. Bitter and refreshing just what I was looking for.

Here’s to a sober weekend everyone

We are heading out soon. Icing up and doing it again.

No drama this trip. Adderall went mega toxic last trip. He definitely burnt the bridge here.

We got old school and his 16 year old son on board. And Gypsy. There is zero tension on the boat. Its nice.

One toxic person on boat is too many. Too much drama.

No meetings close enough to go to last night. Im feeling strong against that first drink today.

My anxiety hasn’t gotten too bad even with Adderall on the boat. Staying in my lane.

Things are going really good and I’m not going to mess it up. I couldn’t have done this drunk. I would have messed it up for sure.

Im proud of myself today. I like the guy I see in the mirror. I hold my head up high because im a good person and I haven’t created any new guilt and shame that my drinking caused me for 2446 days.

I drank with 7 months sober the last time I drank.

I was absolutely :100: percent disgusted with myself. I learned from it.

All we have is today. Im not drinking today.

I slept more or less ok, despite the heat. Work was also quite relaxed, just like @JasonFisher mentioned in his post, one toxic person on board is one too many. Today we had no toxic colleagues on board, zero drama! Love it! Wish it was always this way…
My gym session was good! Quite tough, but good.
On my way home from the gym I listened to another chapter from “This naked mind”, it was the chapter about the long list of negative effects from alcohol on your health. It’s always good to be reminded of the truth, as I tend to close my eyes to the things I don’t want to see or hear.
For tonight I’ll hit the pillow sober.

Thanks, Madeline. I guess we live and learn. I knew it wasn’t a good idea, and now I have to go through the beginning all over again. The part that in a podcast I heard of as: “The first five years of recovery is like backing away from a house on fire.” Five years! I’m no kid, eventually I would run out of 5 yearses! Let’s do this. Stay ahead of me, and I’ll stay ahead of the next guy.
