Day 3

Not feeling 100% this morning, with the guilt, but definitely in a better space than before.

I remember that from Long Beach WA, ten years ago. A speed limit on the beach. Had me baffled. :exploding_head:

  1. Morning my sober friends. I’m feeling amazing after a hardcore Kettlebell spin session. No one fainted today, no drama. I’m feeling my strength increase a lot, which is really encouraging, and these early morning classes have such an infectious vibe. Good vibes only for this gal these days. :victory_hand: Let’s get it, whatever it is. Keep going troops. Peace

Checking in Day 5

I feel… Everything. Not sure how I can express it really. There is a set of feelings moving inside me, emptiness, loss, anger, fear. It feels like something dislodged after my trip back to my parents. A large chunk of unresolved feelings and trauma that is now just here. Some memories are floating back up to the surface and I need to give them time and space to breathe. At the same time I need to look after myself. It feels rough, the urge to bury myself from these feelings is so strong but I am stronger.

This feels important, too important to throw away, too important to fight. I’m reaching out here as I have no idea what to do. Right now all I know is that in the time I was at home I felt my boundaries crossed and felt powerless to stop them being crossed. Even admitting that makes me feel raw.

I am grateful for this forum and for those who have read this far. I feel seen here.

:100: agree. As long as whatever you’re saying no to is going to be positive and healthy for you, those boundaries are essential. I’m estranged from my siblings and when people say ā€œbut it’s familyā€ or ā€œyou should really make amends before it’s too lateā€ it infuriates me. I’m not doing that because it will be damaging to me. That’s a boundary I’m going to hold. I spent too much time being gaslit by them into thinking nothing was wrong and that they weren’t the problem. You do what you need to do to stay healthy and sane.

it’s the definition of strength that is important here I feel. True strength (I feel) is dealing with these emotions, feeling them through all the way, experiencing them, learning from how it feels to feel 'm, and learning lessons, how to overcome them.

Acknowledging this, knowing this, and again, feeling it and now reflecting on it and sharing about it is a big step in the right direction. You were in an environment where you boundaries have been overstepped and violated for many many years (right?). You’re seeing now what is happening. It’s the beginning of truly dealing with it. How that dealing for you actually turns out, is for you to find out and decide. There’s many options. Congrats on your progress and keep going friend.

Day 270

A nice Friday planned with a posh lunch on the cards. It’s a place I have to drive to and I’ve never had a drink there so hopefully it won’t be to triggering, It wasn’t last time.

They do this amazing dish called a nourish salad. Not quite has healthy as it sounds  , but it is so tasty. You get loads of grilled chicken so I’ll definitely be taking a doggy bag home for my two.

Absolutely nothing else planned for today, I think I will lazy around, craft, play my viola and enjoy being sober.

Wishing everyone a wonderful sober day.

Morning all,

Check-in day 21 I think .. my counter had reset but I haven’t :slightly_smiling_face:

Portugal was a success! No alcohol, weed, fags or vapes. That’s for me who is used to turning up to the airport and getting on it until the very last moment of the holiday.

We both had really good time. It felt mindful and relaxed, there were times where tensions were a little high, like losing my phone, breaking my phone, losing my wallet, key for the room (numerous times) messed up the car rental reservation so was walking about on 2 hours sleep in the hot sun while Noah was whinging and saying he wants to go home:slightly_smiling_face::grimacing:But I didn’t drink and we laughed, we chatted, we explored, we watched sunsets, we ate well, we slept and I returned without a hangover. I will always value that holiday with my little dude…now back to the chaos :joy:

Thanks for checking in on me @JazzyS, I’m really grateful for you friend! I hope you get a little rest from you pain and a sleep..I’m struggling to sort my sleep too…so I feel for you

Hope you’re all well and sober:heart::folded_hands:

Good morning friends, day 274. Too much coffee at the meeting last night and slept terribly. I’ll shake off the cobwebs shortly and hit the day full of coin and commerce.

Have a great day!

Thanks Mno, I agree. I’m in unfamiliar territory and the strength comes from acceptance of what actually happened, acceptance of my feelings and compassion for myself as I work through it.

It is a very alien concept to sit within a set of uncomfortable emotions and explore it.
