I once told fresh market which is a organic grocery store that I broke my leg because I was really hung over and then I got off the phone and realized that wow this is a lot more than missing one day like later that day I thought about it And realized I couldn’t come back to work for a while. I just kept up the lie for like two or three months and every time they called I would say yeah it’s getting better… I’ll let you know when it’s fully healed lol. That was one of the more ridiculous call out excuses and I really wasn’t thinking or using my brain on that one. Eventually I just told them the truth and they didn’t know whether to be mad or just really confused. But the crazy thing is I ended up working for that same company like five years later but at a different location and they never knew that I worked at the other one or lied about breaking my leg
On the morning of the original Call About breaking my leg I don’t know how they didn’t hear me pacing around out of nervousness when supposedly my leg is broken. And I don’t know how they didn’t ask me to come in with some kind of proof. The things I did in the past is insane but I’m not alone. I’m sure a lot of us have said crazy things to get out of work

I once had a team member who called in stating her mom died on 3 different occasions while she worked for us . Then one day she went on lunch and never came back . When I got ahold of her she said she got hit by a car in the parking lot outback and was in the hospital but the camera footage showed her leaving in her boyfriend’s truck. The worst part of it all was her mom one day showed up looking for her. Don’t get me wrong I’ve done lots of messed up things but I’ve never lied about someone’s death. That’s gotta be another level of bad karma… lol

I know that’s not supposed to be funny but it is a little bit. So glad I don’t have to live like that anymore. I really do feel like I’ve done a 180 because I hate calling out now and Even with it being legitimate reasons I feel bad now. I was actually talking to people in my net work a couple months back about how it’s crazy that I didn’t care about that when I was drinking or using but now that I’m in recovery I really care about calling out. I guess that makes sense though because my priorities were not in the right area and my thinking was not right. When I would get a new job in active addiction I would literally write down like things I could use for calling out or leaving early and I would keep track of them so I didn’t repeat things or forget about my stories or made up stories. And certain ones I would save for If I knew I had to leave right away for whatever reason

That’s a good way to put it! All the stressful and crazy things I did to maintain that exhausting and depressing life of drinking and using when come to find out the easier thing was to just give up and stop doing it and get help. It’s literally harder to maintain that life than it is to maintain sobriety. I’m grateful for so much right now but the main thing is that I’m grateful that my thinking has changed. Everything else I’m grateful for is just a bonus

As, is the fact that I have a dedicated team member who’s only purpose is to make sure the bowl always full.
Tech Support is highly stressful that’s why we have policy of only having the phones connected for 5 min/hour and have a minimum queue length of 50.

My friend invited this guy who used to be my friend until he decided to try to blackmail/extort me, to his house for a get-together. I wanted to go to it to see some friends I haven’t seen in a long while, but now I’m not gonna go because that scumbag is there.
The guy I’m talking about is extremely manipulative and is actually a sociopath, even fits the definition of one really well. He is also the one who first introduced me to my drug of choice a few years ago. He likes to pick fights with people all the time, and he drinks like a fish. He gets very angry when he has no alcohol especially. I understand that he is probably an alcoholic, but he has zero interest in becoming a better person. He believes I’m somehow at fault for him trying to extort me.
I hate that I have so many mutual friends with that evil idiot. My friend who knows both of us is aware of what happened but he still chooses to hangout with him sometimes anyway.

The ridiculous amount of closed off streets for roadwork around here. The ridiculous amount of roadwork that ISN’T gettng done! 
My street was closed last Friday. That’s it. Just put “Road Closed” signs up. So I drove around them…until Tuesday, when they parked an excavator in the middle of the road. But that was it 
It sat there for days not doing a damn thing! They finally started digging a hole…but not very big. I haven’t actually seen any workers at all! I have to drive ½ a mile out of the way every time I need to get to the other side of the road, which is only 50ft away! ANNOYING!
