Corona virus

They just quarantined my son but he did just get back in the states from the middle east and then traveled thru Spain as well on his way to base. He said it’s just a cold but off to quarantine he goes

By far the best bit of Frozen two is the cheezy homage to power ballads Kristof sings. Lmfao.

I am self quarantined as my immune system is so bad and with multiple joint replacements I am not willing to risk it. Even just getting a cold or the common flu puts me in the hospital so nope I’ll stay away from people.
Yesterday I went to lunch. We drove by places and found one that looked like they were closed they were so empty
Today I attempted to go grocery shopping. Walked out with a new water filter since I can’t buy water bottles and a case of cream soda Dr Pepper by then my anxiety was setting in because people were coughing and all over.
I came home and will have Walmart deliver my groceries. When they get here I will have on my gloves and sanitize it all with vinegar and peppermint oil before taking care of it :woman_shrugging:

I am introvert and I like being home, working from home, reading etc. I am not sorry that there are no in person work meetings for a while. But I don’t know how I’m going to work from home and homeschool my kids at same time. Also I have tight chest and cough. If I have it, it’s mild, I’m healthy, it’s probably fine for me, but obviously not fine if I give it to anyone else. The system can’t cope; there aren’t enough hospital beds or ventilators. I am very lucky because, unlike zillions of people, I’m able, I have medical insurance and a high salary, I’m not asthmatic or diabetic or over 50 or a smoker or prone to lung disease. Makes me extra aware of the need for better social safety nets.

The media, internet and such are totally blowing this crap way out of proportion!!! I mean easy out of proportion. If your elderly or susseptable to phnemonia then yes, take extra procaution. Otherwise wash your hands and live your life. Please… Im sick of hearing of it to be honest. Every year there is something new guys. Every year.

When I hear an “expert” I try to see if they might have any personal motivation for minimizing or sensationalizing the threat of this virus.

I listened to an epidemiologist on Joe Rogan, who leaned towards dire predictions. He kept referring to the book he wrote some time ago. His organization also relies on funding grants for its operations

I listened to an Emergency Room Doctor/Retired Green Beret on Mind of The Warrior podcast, whose predictions seemed much more realistic, and I couldn’t detect an underlying motivation that might explain his moderate predictions.

With this in mind, whose predictions would I tend to give greater weight?

I listen to the doctors on the ground, in the hospitals. Anyone with a podcast, column, website, etc has an agenda that comes with it. So far the doctors in the infectious disease clinic at Upstate University Hospital are not panicking. Social distancing is good. Mass hysteria is bad. Buying masks and toilet paper is dumb. Washing your hands and staying home if you have symptoms is smart.

Well, since I’ve quit drinking I’ve already been practicing “social distancing”, so there’s that. :wink:Seriously though, more cases are being confirmed daily in the Detroit/tri-county area. Michigan schools K-12, all colleges/ universities are closed at least until April. Thankfully my husband can work from home, so he’s able to stay with our 3 kids (gonna be a looong month!). I work for CMH in Wayne County and do many home visits and work with a vunerable population (lots of elders/high medical needs) Waiting to see how the county will handle this as our agency runs primarily on face to face billing.
Wayne County CMH is set to make an announcement tomorrow on how to go forward so we’ll see…
In the meantime, I’m very thankful for curbside grocery pick up at Kroger so I don’t have to encounter the mobs. Still have to go on the hunt for TP though as it’s now one of the few items not available for pick up…

I’m going to attempt the store in a few min lol hopefully they have toilet Paper and it’s not mad chaos

There’s always Kleenex or baby wipes, lol

I worry about the idea, which I see in some of these comments, that healthy-immune people don’t need to social distance. We do, we must. It is not for us, it’s for our less healthy neighbors all over the world.
