Hi all,
I read often but have never posted. I’m scheduled to get the jab tomorrow and I’m terrified. Only doing it because I have a trip planned to 4 EU countries soon. I’m really hoping to find some input from those with a history of alcoholism (active or sober) and how they reacted to getting to getting vaxed. Any input is appreciated, but mainly curious as to how drinking (or not) has impacted the side effects. Thanks in advance.

Tbh I don’t think either alcohol or being sober impact on any side effects. I’m sober around 2.5 yrs and had just the usual sore arm and some headaches and lethargy for a couple of days. Just had my booster yesterday and feel perfectly fine. Others I know, suffered worse and were wiped out in bed for a few days.
Probably depends more on which vaccine you’re having and on the individual, everyone is different and react differently.

I can say as one who’s been sober a good while now, I’ve had both jabs and a booster and was mostly fine. The second jab was a little rough the day after.
Honestly being sober likely makes it easier. I’ve heard it strongly recommended not to drink the day before and for a couple days after.
Certainly staying well hydrated is important. The second shot, I had some sweats that probably would not have been fun if I already had a hangover.
Anyway. Sober it was all a breeze and it all passed as quick as it came.

Fully vaxed and boosted, 3+ years sober. No side effects other than sore at injection site.
I work at a company with over 500 employees and we all got vaxed at the same time. Some had side effects, some didn’t, some are sober, some heavy drinkers. While alcohol can exacerbate effects of illness (due to its depressive influence on the immune system), it doesn’t seem to be a determining factor.
Note, I’m not a doctor nor a scientist, just a dude who don’t drink any more, trying to live his life with the least amount of guff as possible.

I had all 3 phizer shots. The second one knocked me down a little, all gave me a sore arm. Around 2 years sober for them.

Full blown drinking for jabs 1 and 2 with Moderna. I had a couple rough days being sore and feverish. #3 was Moderna booster and I was totally dry, same couple of rough days. No difference.

I have consulted with 3 different specialists with PhD’s, lab coats and everything, and we’ll, they respectfully disagree with your assertion. So thanks for the “facts”, but I’m all good.

I was 11 months sober when I got my vaccination series,
Mind you I have other health problems I had to get cleared to get the shot for (seizures) and that was their biggest concern, they had no concerns of me being an alcoholic in early remission
Other than the usual, soreness at the shot site I was a little tired and had a mild headache, by day 2 I was back to normal, I don’t think there is any valid research on alcoholism and COVID vaccine effectiveness or concerns
Btw I had the Pfizer shot

Bill Gates is a businessman, he makes his money primarily through selling products created by Microsoft, if there’s less people, that’s less people to buy his products, hence less money for him. The logic is flawed
