Today I am grateful. Yesterday I found 3 baby squirrels alive on my hot tub cover. They had fallen out of a nest some 30 feet above in our big Oak. They are at most 2 weeks old. Hairless, pink, eyes closed, wriggling around on the pool cover. I got a clean paper towel and moved them to the base of the tree, and covered them with the nesting material that fell with them.

I prayed that their momma would find them. I checked a few hours later, and the 3 were still alive. Prayed again. Checked in early evening, and only 2 were there. Prayed again, and this morning, the remaining 2 were gone. I believe momma found them.

With all the COVID challenges and the political and social unrest in my area, I am grateful for this small sign that my HP is present and listening.

I’m grateful for my breath. I woke up this morning with an attitude of gratitude. Not everyone got to wake up again, this morning.

I’m grateful for my challenges as they teach me lessons.

I’m grateful in my desire and ability to challenge myself to be better every single day.

I’m grateful in the small strides I take daily to build into major accomplishments.

I’m ultimately grateful for my sobriety as growth would be put on the back burner next to self sabotaging behavior and habits.

Gratitude and a greatful heart, appears to be the cornerstone of healing and sobriety. Over the last month I believe that my heart has changed from mean and nasty to a greatful heart. Small things make me happy that they are around. They don’t seem to annoy me anymore
So today, I am greatful for those things that I hated. It’s good that they are still around.

for my beautiful children. For my supportive and patient boyfriend. He has seen me at my worst and I have made life so difficult for him due to my drinking. He continues to stand by me and show me so much love. For my faith!
