Day 2- need advice

Hello! I am new to this forum and just looking for a little advice. I am on day two of no alcohol and I am not feeling great today. Much better than yesterday but today I keep getting really hot and genuinely feel kind of weak overall. Is this to be expected during the first few days.

Welcome and congrats on day 2. Don’t know about your usage but there are many withdrawal symptoms when quitting. I felt tired and weak for a few works. Mental fog also. Stay hydrated and take it easy.

Congratulations on day 2. It’s one of the bad days that one…but as Steve said, stay hydrated and take it easy. I felt shaky and tired and weak and disconnected…that feeling may go on for a bit…everyone’s experience is different. But it will definitely go away. Just keep doing what you are doing. Taking it one little moment at a time. You can do this. x

Congratulations on day 2. It’s also my second day of going sober. It’s a tough feeling to overcome but we got this. We need to hold strong! We’ll get through this phase together! If you need someone to talk to don’t hesitate to message someone and ask for help.

As a nurse I can offer education & as a fellow recovering addict I can offer experience. The heat is from your body experiencing the changes & purging the toxins from your system. It’s almost like a flu, your body needs to sweat it out. Sometimes, fever-like chills may accompany it.

The fact that you’re on here asking for help & not somewhere else says that you care more about your sobriety than you realize. If possible, I’d look for a meeting to get you through the first week, which is the hardest. Even one other person to walk through the steps with you could be helpful.

Yes yes it is normal, take a shower or two it really helps, and as you let water wash away picture it washing away all the negativity invading you, I know it sounds cuuckoo but we are healing our brain too, most of all. Dont forget to stay hydrated constantly, and eat, even if it’s toast and peanut butter or a canned soup. Rest, rest, rest, if feeling hot try to stau in cool place and applying cold compresses on your head, even a bag of frozen peas if nothing else is available. Hang in there, Im on day 3 and its a lot better than Day 1 and 2. There’s a lot of love and support here for you. You are not alone, trust me, ALL of us are rooting for you!

Thank your the response. Yesterday was not fun but I’m feeling a little better as the afternoon goes on today. Focusing on one day at a time.

No problem. Even after 9yrs, I still have PTSD from the withdrawal stage. I’ll wake up at night & feel like I’m going through it all over again. I find that hot showers to kind of numb my body first then switching to cold to cool myself off helps tremendously! The best place to put a cold wash cloth or ice pack is the back of your neck & lower back, it’ll bring your body temp down the fastest. Also, I LOVE the Body Armor drinks they have now for hydration!

Sobriety is lifetime stuggle but it does take one day at a time.
